Searched and didn't see anything already posted...Just came across this on the web, not the best angle but this sure as hell looks like an access cab 2nd gen...

I for sure saw 2nd gen amongst a bunch of Hiluxes and even a tundra in the Middle East on the news about a week ago... Anyone know of how these trucks are getting over there?

It was from an article talking about the improvised weapons of the Free Syrian Army... I don't believe the groups are related, if fact may end up opposing each other, although I really am not sure honestly. Meant to include that in the original post, sorry.

I've seen them in everything from Taco/Hiluxes, to Dodge Rams, to Hyundais, to Fords.

Have no idea how it got there. Shipped in by water transport from the far east? Who knows?
Dude...these Tacoma's are the quintessential rough terrain desert rigs... If I was a Muslim insurgent whose mission is to crush the American imperialist dogs and had the $$ I wouldn't go risk my ass in a Chevy. Just sayin' ;-)

    That would be correct.

I've seen ISIS with a 4Runner/First Gen Taco before too. Can't quite seem to locate the photo now though.

They have a lot more connections than a typical terrorist organization by the looks of it. That being said, the Hilux has been extremely popular over there for years. Hell, our own Spec Ops brought over first gen Tacos. I'm sure they have some of those at their disposal now.

Is it? Do you have a pic of whatever generation of Hilux that'd be by any chance? I looked around at photos and didn't see any that matched the tail light and wheel arches here that look pretty much exactly like the Taco. I wish I had a pic of the one from the news story... They had a great shot of it driving by from front to back, that was 100% a Tacoma.

it's sad that the ISIS trucks are more reliable than our own hummers, tanks, and so forth. :/
