I am looking to get a full OME set up (881's, 4 Nitros, Dakars) and have been in contact with Cruiser Outfitters and Wheelers Off Road about package deals and shipping costs. Does anyone up here have experience with an off road store they would recommend? I have been to Off Road Plus a couple of times here in Fairbanks and every time the guy I need to talk to is out. Is there a good place in Anchorage? Does anyone have any tricks to lessen the cost of shipping?
This money hasn't even arrived and it's burning a hole in my pocket.

What are you guys planning on getting?

If you can contact the company and find out the weights and dimensions of the whole package being shipped... There is a freight forwarder located in Portland that ships to Alaska at a discounted price. I have never had an issue with them. The average cost runs about a 1$ a pound. This is for the small sized stuff. The larger sized items may cost more than their weight do to the space they take up. A lot of items I have bought that had free shipping in the lower 48, but couldn't be shipped here... Ended up costing less going this route. Even some stuff that would be able to ship, ended costing less going the route also.

    Bought fender flares 400$ online
    Free shipping to Portland
Shipped to alaska for around 80$
Buying the same thing local.... 600$

Takes a little longer for it to get here, but if your not on a time crunch.... Worth the wait for the savings.

GTF (Green Tree Fabrication) (Anchorage) specializes in Toyotas... And have some sweet race trucks/offroad trucks. Dan is the head guy you will want to talk to.

I had mine OME kit picked up from Wheelers via SAIA transportation and shipped to the Pacific Alaska Freightways terminal in Fife, WA. Then they shipped it up via steamship. The portion from Oregon to Washington was the most expensive part. I think I paid around 250 total to Anchorage.
