Texas whistle blower cover up !

Just heard Toyota fired a lawyer whistle blower over 16 roll over cases in Texas. Anyone know the details?

Weak roofs?

I'm skeptical. There's no law that says you automatically get to survive a rollover crash regardless of the strength of the vehicles roof.

 

Should be interesting which way it goes. The article is so vague, no actual truth or facts. Ford went through the roof thing around 2001, the suit showed volvos not collapsing , f250s collapsing.
I wonder if there is a video out there showing a freeway rollover, thres a video in the video forum shwing a desert rollover, think ill recheck it

 

went to youtube and typed "toyota tacoma rollover", its the only one that came up, the roof on that DC looks quite intact.

Doesnt prove anything, sure it was at say30mph not 70mph but interesting.

My thought would be "rather than blaming the manufacturer for weak roofs, try not to roll your vehicle in the first place".

 

Iunno but get this - a couple weeks ago my younger bro ( all of 135lbs ) was in my bed and decides to jump up and sit on my roof. - Whap, he jumps back off in suprise and his skinny little hide left a HUGE dent in my roof - I'm talking like about 8in in circumfrence and a good 1/2" deep in the center....after I call him a fat @ss i open up the rear door - aim out where the hole is and punch the roof. POP ! goes right back into almost perfect shape. You can't even tell unless you get like right up onto the roof you'll see a minor warp still left from the light...after that though that was the first thing I thought. That for a roof w/out a sunroof the structural integrity was horrible if a 13xlb kid can put in a huge hole and i can punch it back out from the inside.

 

I would be less concerned about minor cosmetic dents, and more concerned about the crush resistance of the roof.

Face it, any rollover and you're going to have a crunched up roof. The question is, how much shorter will the passenger compartment be when you're done?

 

Shut your mouth! That would require us to not be negligent and to take responsibility for our own actions. What do you think this is; real life?

 

If toyota starts offering a convertable Tacoma like Dakotas did, would that be an admission of guilt? Hey get those tin snips away from my truck!!

 

also have to think of how many times it rolls over..each time it rolls over it gets weaker i suspect...but I don't care what kinda truck or car your in...if you roll over...its not gonna be good...i plan on not rollin my truck so im not too concerned...and its not the sheet metal between the roof that provides the support but the a-pillars b-pillars and c-pillars that you would want to hold up...on any car the sheet metal between these pillars is gonna get shitted on
