Dipstick, Hard to Read

2009 4 cylinder. Try as I may, I can't figure where my oil level is. There is oil on the stick but it runs up the side with no clear line as to the level. I know how much oil I put in at the change, but don't know what's left after 4000 miles. This a is terribly designed dipstick.

Has anyone figured out a what to modify the dipstick to make it easier to read?

 

I too have never been able to get a definitive read on my stick......Same problem-high on one side not a plain straight line.

 

Had the same problem with my 4.0-V6. So I took my dremel with a sanding tip and roughed up the tip of the dipstick up to the full line. Oil seems to stick on it now a little thicker making it easier to read.

Ya, I would say it's a pain in the ass to read. I was like you for a while. It deffinatly can be a pain to read. You get used to it though.

 

just put 6 quarts in the L4 and keep an eye out for leaks
