Thanks! I am liking it so far, I do wish I would have purchased the heavy duty crossbars. What light bar are you going to use?

 

Bought a 50" from a guy at work, it was his sons. His son said he didnt like the wind noise from it. I cant remember the name its been so long but they claimed it was $450 new, which I looked up the name at the time and it was. But no logo on the light bar means prob an ebay special lol. Its whatever cuz I didnt pay that much and its bright as fuk. The outside to outside measures 52" so I was thinkn bout doing the same setup as you.. with a little twist

I didnt know there were different cross bars!?

 

There is wind noise but it is an easy fix. Rather tilt the light till it stops or use 1/4 inch hose in a few different spots to break up the wind flow over the fins.

 

After the last road trip with the RTT the wife and I came to the conclusion that we needed a trailer. So I found a great deal on this lill guy a Canadian M101-CDN2, 1/4 ton trailer. I will post more about it once I get some time after I clean it up a bit.

Here are the specs from the craigslist add from he guy I got it from.

"1992 Canadian Military 1/4 ton off road trailer used as a small caping trailer to pull perfectly behind small or large SUV's. Perfect size for Jeeps. This trailer is similar to the older U.S version Viernam M416 trailers but is a little emote stout and were made in 1992 in which only approx 2000 of these trailers were made to pull behind the Canadian Iltis. Surface rust only. I had this trailer sandblasted and painted to match my Toyota Landcruiser, coated inside and underside with Rust Bullet protectant, and undercoated bottom and then painted black under and white on exterior. I cut in the tailgate as well as added a small Military aluminum curved tongue box, relocated the parking brake handle, had a very heavy duty 4 piece folding lid system made with military rubber adhered on lids, added 11 military tie downs on lid (also has 4-6 on interior that was built with the trailer. I designed the trailer rack system with stainless steel gas struts to raise the rack to an elevated height in which at one time I had an Eezi Awn 1400 roof top expedition tent on top of the rack which held 2-3 people and one person slept comfortably on the lid with the black sunbrella fabric cover insulated with military poncho liners I had made. The axle and leaf springs new bearings, new brake pads, were taken apart, sandblasted and primed and coated with rust bullet and black chassis paint and the drum hubs were swapped out for new ones with Toyota 6 lug pattern to match pulling vehicle and so you only have to carry a spare between the two. Tires are like brand new 255/85-16 BFG Mud terrain's. I have been building this trailer for years and its only went on one trip which was last summer to Florida Keys where we camped for a week right on the beach with RTT on top of rack and one person underneath on lids. It did great. Trailer uses pintle hitch system. Has folding stabilizer leg in front and rear that are easily adjustable as well as a 2" receiver hitch on rear to carry bike holder or what not and has working parking brakes. Weighs approx 1000lbs and box dimensions are at the widest and longest are 4'x6' and approx 18" box interior height....box tapers narrower at bottom. Rack at lowest position is approx 25" above lids and when struts are released to extend it raises another 12-15" approx. This gave me descent amount of room to sit up while sleeping on lids. Some of the pics shown are with my first prototype rack and wood lid system. Its a blast and easy to pull behind a jeep or small SUV, store all your camping gear under the lids and lock it down when you leave campsite for the day."

The roof rack got put to use this weekend for domestic duties. Patio table fit perfectly up there!

 

Finally got the tent mounted to our trailor. Now is time to take it out for a test run. How do y'all think it turned out?

Looks awesome! How heavy would you say it is with a full loadout?

 

She actually can stand in the middle of the tent haha. We both love it, makes camping so much nicer over a ground tent. I use to have a big toys hauler camper and I feel this is a nice balance between the two. A lot more comfort with out all the extra hasel of a big camper. I just wish I would have had a RTT shipped out to Hawaii while we where there.

From what I can find on line it's about 775 pounds when they rolled out of the factory. Given that this one has a new wheel and tire combo, wider steel fenders, an extremely heavy duty way over build quad folding lid, lift system for the RTT rack, RTT and front tool box I would say its close to 1,100 lbs with out all of the camping gear. It's nicely balanced and easy for me to move around by hand.

 

Scored a sweet old Honda EM650 generator for $140 today!!! Can't wait to use it next weekend at Big Dogs!!!
