Nice Thanks! I have not shot the M1, but I have the .308 which I like a lot. I love/Hate AR's. I like them pretty simple, not into the tactical look.

I like the AR's for two main reasons, ergonomics, and the ability to swap out parts, and even calibers and only have one gun.
Next month I'll be submitting paperwork for a 300 blackout SBR and I'll also build a 6.8 SPC upper for my hunting guns, those two calibers will take down anything local to me, and with the 6.8 I can go hunt long range (Out to ~350 yards) in Texas.

I agree, I didn't think of the 6.8, aren't they hard to come by?

I have seen some ammo at the local sporting goods store (For close to the same price as my current 30-30 ammo, so it's not to bad), but I haven't seen any parts for them around (I'll be building my own upper, so I'll most likely order everything in).

I don't know a lot about the 6.8, but Brett @ironworks tactical knows a ton about it and he's on tacomaworld (He'll usually chime in if anyone has questions)

Magpul recently came out with a fixed stock that looks very similar to their collapsables. There's a YouTube vid.

I saw the carbine one but I'm worried the LOP would be too short. I had an adjustable one before and had it pinned on the 2nd or 3rd hole. I think the rifle stock will fit me well.

OK so earlier in the week I was boring everyone to death about my issues with my new 10.5" pistol build. Couldn't get it to feed/eject reliably.

Was going to take apart the gas block as many of you suggested to check for a burr in the gas port, mis-alignment, etc. So I had the BCG out and the rail off and decided to look at the bolt carrier again. For the heck of it I tried to tighten the hex bolts that secure the gas key...I was able to tighten both of them. They looked like they were staked pretty well but obviously they weren't. So I staked them myself and put everything back together. Went to the local range this morning to see if it made a difference. Gun ran beautifully. Cycled both .223 and .556 perfectly. :D

Here she is with a new KAK muzzle device. I also just ordered a EBAL-AR15 Enhanced Battery Assist Lever from Tactical Link...very similar to a Magpul BAD lever, $18.95 shipped.

I appreciate all the trouble-shooting advice I received from the group.

Got my lower back from the engraver yesterday and put it back together.
I like how it turned out, but I feel like the dust cover needs to be engraved with the caliber to look proper.

    Looking nice.
I'll be ordering 3 stripped uppers (one for my sister, one for my 300 BLK SBR build, and one for my 6.8 build) tomorrow, along with the upper parts kits, and a 16'' 6.8 barrel.
That's all I'm gonna spend on guns next month until I send off my form 1.

Went out this weekend and got a few mags through the still new Smith MP15. Still lovin it! have had a couple jams that needed to be removed via mortaring.. but I'll chock those up to the reloads... as i never had an issue with purchased ammo.

The Eotech is still dead on and I cant get enough it. Its the easiest, most consistently accurate (thanks to the gun and the Eotech) rifle ive ever shot. I point.. and shoot.. almost like driving nails.

but remember.. this is my first AR.. im comin from the Ruger Mini world. :D

Just put a order in for 2 stripped uppers with parts kits (wanted to get 3, but I decided to get a barrel instead and put my 300 BLK on hold for a month or two) , a 16'' 6.8 SPC II barrel, Bolt carrier and 6.8 bolt, Low-pro gas block, gas tube, and gas tube roll pin.

also Ironworks tactical has complete 556 BCG's for $98.00

Stopped by a local gun shop the other day and they had a used Colt AR 16" barrel, carbine, Magpul furniture, for around $800. Anyone have any experience or thoughts on this?

Thinking about building an iron-sighted dissipator, probably with an A1 stock, but maybe a Sully. Picture an M16A2 cut to the gas block & threaded. Anyone here done this? Thoughts?
