Got a whopping 14.3 MPG yesterday over 280miles of (mostly freeway) driving. Gotta love a armored out truck with 35's and the aerodynamics of a brick(no really, RTT is like a brick in the wind on my bed rack. lol) plus climbing over Donner pass twice between reno and Sac.
Guess ya gotta pay to play though. Can only imagine when I SAS it with 1ton's and some 39" tires.

My first tank I averaged 24ish and that was a mix of highway/city. Haven't gone through my second tank yet.

Edit: Second tank done, 23 mpg between the two tanks.

2014 regular cab 4x4 5 speed. Only have 2500 on the clock so far and almost all town driving. Worst I've got is 20 and best so far is 23. I'm sure the variation is due more to how I drive than anything but even 20 is much better than the 12-14 my Silverado got. Still glad I traded that in on the taco!

My loaded down work truck normally never sees the freeway, but recently I took an 838 mile trip to Sacramento and back, and so had a perfect opportunity to find out the very best mileage my 2.7 could get.

The total average for the trip was 30.6 mpg. :)

The truck ran great. I kept the speed steady and always between 60 and 75. My normally aspirated engine is stock with simple bolt on intake and exhaust mods to enhance low end torque for easy drivability and good gas mileage:

    1. Injen 36" long tube intake
    2. Tooter 2" thick intake manifold spacer
    3. LCE 22" runner long tube header
    4. Flowmaster Series 50 Delta Flow muffler
    5. 2.25" mandrel bent exhaust pipe to the rear of the truck

I'm running 16"X 7" alloy wheels with 235/60 Yokohama tires. They roll really smooth and quiet, and the truck handles great in the corners. :)

Did a job 148 miles away from home last week. So seeing that our trucks don't have an instant or avg mpg guage inside the cab, I decided to fillup before leaving to get a baseline, and, re-fill, handcalculate upon my return. Here is proof of 25 mpg's from a 2014, PreRunner, 2.7, automatic. Everything is stock, except for wheels, which are on stock Dunlops.

    This truck..

This was my MPG's (25.1 ) pretty impressive if you ask me. Mostly flat, with a slight grade near my destination. Kept between 68-75 ish most of the way, but truthfully I wasn't really keeping an eye on my speed.

I keep my tires at @40psi. 2010 access cab 2.7 prerunner with manual trans. I normally get right at 24mpg on my 90% 60mph highway commute.

If I go faster than 70mph, or stop & go around town, it's more like 21mpg.

These trucks have the aerodynamics of a barn door, that's the killer IMO.

Had to respond to a wildfire 160 miles from home in July, hot as hell so I had the Air cranked. When I returned I checked my mileage, mostly highway speeds and couldn't believe I got 23.5 mpg.

    Very pleasantly surprised.

2014 Reg cab, 4 cyl 4x4 auto; just passed 1,000 miles and calculated 23.6 mpg. Not too bad for a new truck and during its "breaking in" period. Current commute is 35 miles (one way), about 1/2 are highway and the rest are county and rig roads.

    Congratulations! :)
You got one of the last of reg cab 4x4's. Take good care of it, because it will become a classic.

I got a 2014 access, cab 4wd, SR5, automatic, everything stock. My mileage avg. for the first 5000 miles was 22.45. These were mostly short trips. I'm happy with that. The worst was 20.5 the best was 27.3

I just bought a bone stock 2004 Tacoma 4X4 SR5 from my dad. It's got 120,000 miles on it. I haven't really driven it enough to know the true mileage it gets. I don't drive it as easy as he did. I doubt it ever got past 3000 rpm for the last ten years. I haven't even red lined it. He says 22 mpg.

I went to pick it up in Reno and drove it to Salt Lake City. I ran 80mph the whole way and got 20+ mpg with 88/91 octane. I forget the exact number. I've noticed a power increase with 88 octane over 87 and will be experimenting but I'm sure 20 will be about as bad as it gets. It's going to get Amsoil in the diffs and the engine so that may help a little. I'll wait and see.

As far as the 2.7 being a gutless wonder. I have to agree it ain't no powerhouse but I've found out that revving it certainly helps when you want to keep up with the flow of traffic. I had no problem maintaining 75 or 80 mph up 7% grades on the trip back. As a matter of fact I can break the legal speed limit of 80mph in Utah in 4th gear without even hitting red line.

Got a 2012 Access cab 2wd AT I-4 six weeks ago. So far I'm averaging 26.3 mpg.

It's not super powerful, but better than my 2001 Altima and the mileage is superb, especially for a truck.

Truck is bone stock, rpm's rarely go above 2500. Usually around 2100-2200 at around 69-70mph where I drive on the highway. Only thing I've done is put a Rugged Liner tonneau cover on the bed.

I really like the range with the 21 gal tank, usually end up going about 450 miles before I fill up. Last fill up was at 509 miles and only put in 18.5 gallons for 27.5 mpg.

I get like 12 mpg. 98% of my driving is city driving, I'm running 33s, and I only have 10k on the truck. Super jealous of some of you, but oh well.
