I use a local company for tools, guys are great and usually have the best prices. Didn't see the levels available through lee valley except for the 4',2' and torpedo

 

Does a french press yield better coffee overall? I'm not much of a coffee guy. Just normally have a cup every now and then at work.

 

First time I ever used one but I think it does, my wife actually drank the coffee and said it was good (she hates coffee )

 

Yeah , I buy all of my power tools locally , same thing , I get way better prices , but Lee Valley has some specialized stuff I can't get here

 

I like the local guys for any warranty issues/defects. I've had a couple things fail and I called them up. Told me to bring it in and they would check it, all they did was give me a brand new one off the shelf, no questions asked

 

I love mine. Makes the best coffee but it is a little work. Takes about 12 minutes to boil the water and soak the coffee.

Yes it does. The main variables are the coarseness of the ground and the time you let the coffee steep. I put the kitchen Aid grinder on 2 for the French press. I let the beans steep in the boiling water for 6 minutes. Press it and pour a cup and the rest into a carafe so it does not brew longer or pick up additional oils out of the bean.

Water needs to be better than 195° F when poured into the press. The steep time really depends on your taste. Experiment with different times for the same coffee and see which one you like best.

 

I just switch from a french press back to a Cuisinart drip machine

 

I guide I had recommended to use water that was just about to boil (not a rolling boiling). I may try hotter next time

 

How do you like the machine? Reviews are good and drip makes a very good cup of coffee.

Wife wants a Keurig machine. At least I can buy a reusable basket and load my own coffee.

Yes , I like it , makes good coffee quick and I can set a timer and wake up to a freshly brewed pot

I also have a Nespresso but that was getting expensive to use all the time

 

can we turn the clock back and make this sunday night instead of monday?

 

No! I want this week to go by quickly so I can start me new job

Tomorrow will be a slow day. Have to insulate and vapour barrier a house, Wednesday I have to crawl around in a small crawl space insulating the floor and sheeting the underside with plywood, Thursday I have a crane day at another site putting up trusses and Friday I'll be sheeting that roof.
