    another option if you are worried about mosquito is to fill up in fairplay then head south a handful more miles til you hit weston pass...you can cruise that one up and over...it'll drop you out just south of leadville

    What the hell are you guys doing to burn so much gas?

    You should be able to fill up in Breck, head to wheeler, up and back wheeler, over mosquito, and land in leadville with at least half a tank.

    There's no reason you couldn't make it to leadville. Then you're not going out of the way.




    BTW, I finally decided to officially bail. Those trails will be there next year, unlike the deer tag that's taken me 3 years to get. Holy Cross is a must do for next year though.

    What CB channel do you guys want to use?

    Labor day weekend is typically the last big camping weekend for out of towners up here, so hopefully we will get lucky and the trails wont be too crowded.

    For anyone trying to map out how to get to Holy Cross.
    Homestake Rd. is the dirt road with camping that goes to the Holy Cross trail head.
