weld in a ~100 Aero and you're well under the cost of a TRD setup. with a equal if not better sound imo.

Not to poop in the thread by any means, but ive heard several areos in person on v6 4.0 tacos and they hit my ear very wrong, too high pitched for my taste.. so far the TRD, made by bosal is the deepest sounding exhaust ive found for a tacoma yet. Ive yet to hear a decent soundclip of a 3 inch AFE catback tho, ive been told they sound incredible, but I couldn't say for sure

I respectfully have to disagree. I think the same about the TRD, and the opposite of the Aero. but.. like the saying goes, to each their own.

My setup is the deepest cleanest sounding exhaust ive ever heard. And not too loud for highway speeds.
With just the 2525xl in. It was too much for me. Plus it had a higher pitched rasp i didnt like.
But every ear is different!! :)

    I totally agree. :)
It sounds super deep even though cameras don't generally pick up all of the lower frequencies. You came up with a greatcombination.

Sounds awesome. I'm about to sell my 2525 and get a Flowmaster 50 series because I'm so sick of the raspy high pitched sound above 2,000 RPM. Maybe I'll weld in a resonator first and see what I think.

Any detrimental effects on performance you can feel with the resonator?

I didnt feel or see any negative affects with the resonator. Im coming from having a dynomax super turbo which isnt a straight through design and is very quiet.

Love my 2525xl, I could actually have it be louder at times but love it how it is.
Had it welded on behind the cab with a turn down before the rear axle.

So I got my exhaust all done.

URD equal length headers (no cats)
    Custom 2.25" Y-pipe (no resonators)
    2.25" in/3" out collector
    3" piping with aero 3030xl

Let me tell you... its loud! Unbelievably loud. And annoying with the drone.

So.. going to add either (2) resonators in the Y-pipe, or (1) right before the muffler.

Hoping that quiets and calms it down a bit. Just not sure what option I want to do or what resonator.

All resonators are basically the same. Its just a matter of what size you want to go with..
If u want to quiet it down, and make it deeper. I would maybe try 2-12" resonators in the y-pipe first.
Ive been told multiple times that 1-12" resonator doesn't make a huge difference. just slight.
If that doesn't do it for you and u want it quieter with a deeper note. than do a 14" or 16" before the muffler. That should make it sound good.

So you're saying 2 resonators in the Y..plus a possible 3rd before the muffler.

The problem I'm running into it is that it seems I don't have enough room (length) between the muffler and collector of the Y-pipe. My only option might be 2 resonators on each side of the Y-pipe.

Then there's issue of cats.. not needed.. but wouldn't mind them back in. Help with rasp. Some backpressure (although I'm supercharged).. but. If I do the resonators in the Y.. I might not have room for the cats.

Here's the setup.. everything else is fantastic. The new high clearance Y. Where its dumped. Just waaaaay to loud. Too much "buzz". Possible rasp. Etc

Put it right after the the y-pipe's merge. That has had the most significant /proven impact. Based off of those who have installed the long tubes and URD Y-pipe. Super Werty can vouch for that. I also highly recommend a stainless flex coupling after the merge. Or sooner or later there will be cracks in there. I can post a picture of mine if you like?

Yes please! :) and thanks for the input Tor! was hoping you would chime in. I actually don't think after the Y is going to be possible. there just isnt enough room. The muffler is 26" and the 3" pipe after the collector is provably less than that.. not to mention how they did the collector. Its ovaled at the 2.25" end and then opens up to the 3" round..

I'm having it done tomorrow. I need to call them in the morning to talk options. Unfortunately I wont be there to see it done. I can't get off work and its 45 minutes away. Swapped vehicles with my parents and they are taking it for me. They understand the situation and vehicles pretty well themsleves so I'm not too worried.

it looks like you could do 2 12" res. right where the 2 cats were.
Or you could just get a 16"-18" one and fit it right after the y collectoer. that's where mine is.
