I never thought road hunters had much success elk hunting, espescially with archery gear. Deer hunting is another story.

I would love to have extra D rings for my truck. Are you willing to ship (assuming I pay for shipping)?

Doesn't really matter if they fill their tag, just as long as they keep other people from filling theirs.

At least the sheds aren't hiding as well as the elk.

Come on out dude. I spent the last three days in the woods (Malheur National Forest), covering a lot of ground and trying to make up for not doing my pre-season homework. Saw over 100 head of elk that were way out of bow range, found a 7 point bull shed, and saw several bucks but they still had milk on their lips. Little fellers still need to do some growing up. Most of the elk aren't herded up yet (other than one big herd I saw) and are not rutting at all. There is a ton of game out here, and despite the holiday weekend not many hunters.

College hasn't been conducive to letting me go out there enough to properly scout plus I'm reluctant to throw in my lot with public land. Been spoiled with having private land to hunt on. Trying to get access to a friend's ranch in Tygh Valley. 5000 acres his Grandpa hasn't let people hunt in nearly 20 years...

Fawk! That is a lot of elk in one herd. Must be an absolute pain the ass to try to spot and stalk a herd like that haha. Are there any speed goats out there? I really need to start putting in for them.

Do you guys have any opinion on the Green River knives? I really like the fat belly on them and the price is pretty good...

If I ever get into hunting, I have white tail on my property all the time. Lately I have seen 2 different does, one with 2 little ones, and the other with one little one. Neighbor said that wild turkey come onto his property a lot, a flock of up to 30 at a time. Probably helps that he feeds them. There is also a coyote den either on my adjacent neighbor's or the next neighbor south of him. Whenever sirens from police/firetruck/ambulance go off nearby, so do the coyotes. I haven't gone really looking for them, but I have my suspicions where they are hiding out. I just need to make my way over there with all my guns loaded and extra ammo.

Yes, lots of speedgoats. I have permission to a ton of private land, but when it's hot like this all of the critters are up high where it's nice and cool. Most of the game is concentrated between 5000-6000' elevation near water, on public land. (Except for the whitetails) The good part is that there are large swaths of roadless areas out here where the road hunters can't go, and the californians won't go, that is really desolate and you have all to yourself. The only tracks I cut are my own. I'm like fawk, someone has been in here! Then I realize they are my tires that left the tracks last weekend. Ya, the main roads get beat up by californians road hunting, but most of the side roads are virgin ground man. PM me if you want some grid coordinates so you can do a little map recon, or just look around Seneca, Oregon. Any direction from town is a good direction. http://www.oregonhuntingmap.com/
