Not yet... Its on the to do list though. I have heard good things about Herculiner (brush on) and Raptor (spray on) I am thinking of using the brush on myself, less to tape off!

I just haven't had the time to do it...

I already took my carpet and insulation out and it is sure noisy! Not intolerable, but you know you're driving a truck. Turning the radio up a few clicks works too.

When I got that (expletive) starter threaded down to where it belongs I felt all like this:

Ridiculously proud and pumped for such a small thing!

lol how many miles are on it?

thanks but it will cost more money to rebuild than to buy a JDM. Ive already had a valve job so they would most likely have to replace the top half of my engine as all new.

Honestly not sure. :anonymous: Upwards of 160k I think.

In all likelihood, I'll probably end up running the 3RZ and build a NICE 2JZ from the ground, up.

Well... 'nice' as in 'better than stock'? I figured a decent one will take quite some time to get together. 3RZ could hold me over. That is of course, if the truck is anywhere near ready at that point. :anonymous:

As for a money tree... isn't that what the black market for kidneys and testicles is for?

Shit dude. You don't need a ground up build on a 2jz. They aren't called the holy trail of motors for nothing(yes I know some don't say that but not the point to all the haters). They hold 600hp easy on stock internals man. You won't have to do much to one to get in the 400hp range.

That and 2jz parts are hella expensive. So a ground up build isn't worth it most the time unless you are planning on over 600hp

Well, 45 minutes and a bunch of cuts on my hands, that fucken sway bar is off.....finally! I guess the reason I was having issues was cuz I didn't remove my ryno skids...so it was a tight fit on the passenger side. I couldn't get the damn end links off so I zip tied them since the wifey needed to take her mom out, she wont drive my dd :( so ima take a damn grinder to those end links. Rust is a mother********

Well shit! That doesn't help the argument to keep the 3RZ. I didn't have any specific HP goals in mind. I'm a bit lost though as to what exactly I should be shopping for though. GE version and put my own turbo and intercooler on it? GTE and modify/upgrade it? From what I've read, it seems there is a difference between JDM vs. export, so do I avoid one or the other?

    Will do.

Didn't even know there was a TRD SC for the 3rz?! I was lookin at the URD SC's on LCE I think.

Hoping to get one w/ a little less than that. My 3rz ended w/ 176k lol :(

EDIT: just checked LCE and it is a TRD SC. Pretty pricey but I suspect that's pretty much the going price for a new SC.

It's hard. Some import companies are hit and miss. Some get great motors. Other get shit ones. It's kinda a gamble sadly.

Get a gte. Much easier to slap a single turbo on it or just som usdm modified scroll twins for 350 hp or so.

    Wasn't aware of a URD kit for the 3rz for a 1st gen...got a link?

Yea TRD made one. Super rare and hard to find. Eric (supratt) has one. Been in a box forever now. Only gave 4psi boost and like 40-50? Hp gain.

I surprised LCE still sells it really.

The edit was me correcting myself I just didn't delete my mistake. There is no URD SC I just remembered wrong lol. Yea the 4psi ones are smog legal in CA but the high boost ones aren't. It said the HP should be somewhere around 195-202 w/ low boost and 217-225 w/ high boost. 150 hp stock. Not too bad.
