Anyone had great experiences? The last new truck I bought was back in 05 down in Salinas. I now live in San Bruno but have read bad things about Melody Toyota.

Hi there. I also relocated to San Bruno. I found Melody's service team to be strained at even acknowledging me upon walking in. I'm not sure if this a reflection of their sales staff. Either way, it turned me off. I purchased from Putnam. They were a bit disconnected and not too personable. I felt like they could care less if I purchased. I ended up moving forward as they had the Baja I was looking for. Toyota 1 in Oakland seems to be okay, and my buddy uses City Toyota... Good luck!

Ha, you are on the same path as me. I first bought a used 06, and liked it so much I ended up buying a new one a few years later.

I bought through Costco which told me what dealership to go to. That put me at Piercey in SJ/Fremont area off 880. I dealt with Gordon and the whole transaction was super smooth. I knew what I wanted and they didnt have it, but they put in a pretty good effort to find it somewhere else and have it transferred for me. From what I could tell, they went out of their way to get the truck for me. I havent tried them for service so I cannot comment.

BTW, when did you move to San Bruno and what ever happened to welding a bed buddy?

Back in 2008 when I was looking to buy an '08 as the '09s were coming out, I went online and queried several dealerships in the area. Several called me and gave me an out the door price. I settled on one that said they would give me a great price and would give me a good deal on my trade. When I got there, they did not have the color I wanted, and we waited for an hour and a half while they tried to get one to the lot and while they "appraised" my trade. Bottom line is they never got the truck there (not while we waited, anyway), and told me my trade was in "fair" condition, which, frankly, offended us. That, plus the fact that they made us wait so long pissed us off and made us decide that we would just wait to get the truck. I wish I could remember the name of that dealership so you could stay away from them.

Fast forward about a week and I get a call from Toyota of Marin (pretty sure that's their name - only Toyota dealership in Marin at the time) asking me if I was still interested in a Tacoma. I told them I was going to wait and relayed my experience with the other dealership. They told me they could beat the other dealership's OTD price and give me a better deal on my trade. Long story short, they made good on their word and we drove out of there in an '09 instead of an '08, happy both with the price we got and what they gave us on our trade. I know this was a few years ago but hope it helps!

Brought my Tacoma in February at One Toyota in Oakland across the freeway from the Coliseum.

I liked it because I literally talked to only one guy and didn't have to play back and forth. They also gave me the number I wanted for my trade-in. The salesman even complained on how high the interest rate was if you financed through Toyota and suggested to go through my bank (which was way cheaper).

The only thing he really tried to push me on was the extended warranty but that last the whole 2 minutes.

Go to a broker. I bought mine through Diamond Auto in San Mateo back in 2011. He saved me over $2k from the best price I could negotiate at the local dealer in the north bay. Plus he also got me a better interest rate. Call them and tell them what you are looking for. They'll find it and make all the arrangements for you with no stress on your part.

I inquired about the costco program but the dealer it says to visit is in Hayward and I have not had time to go across the bay. I'm still 50/50 on getting a new one with just the SR5 package and V6 or looking for used. I love my access back but my girl is 8 months old and my wife is due early January. I need a 4 door now to fit the car seats and take the family camping etc.

I have barely had time to ride, maybe 4 times this year. I still would love to build one, hopefully one I get the new truck. That is if your offer to help still stands.

I bought mines from Piercy Toyota, just curious how much did you guys get for the trade in. I am considering getting a doublecab depending on the price and the trade-in value I get. I actually got my 2011 TRD TX pro Accesscab from Piercy also, I ended up buying it for 31,000 OTD.

    A little a this, a little a that...
I bought mine from Santa Rosa last year. They keep a pretty big inventory and were straightforward and easy to deal with. I had to grind a little but think I got a good price. If your willing to go that far PM me and I'll give you the name of the sales guy I worked with.

I used to work for San Francisco Toyota but not in sales. I work with Melody on an almost daily basis(factory part purchases) but will not buy a vehicle through them. I have purchased through Costco before but will never agin. I now use my Credit Unions Personalized Auto purchasing agent. San Mateo Credit Union is awesome for this. I talked to my agent, she found what I was looking for and all I had to do was sign papers and they delivered it to my shop... Best shopping experience ever...

YUP, offer stands. Anytime I am free I am open to a welding project! Congrats on the kids, I had no idea.

X2!!! I have only gone to them for service and a few parts. Parts were ok, but service dept SUCKED. Pissed me off so bad that I have done all the rest of my "free oil changes" myself because I didnt even want to go back in there which includes part purchases.

At first the new Livermore Toyota dealer opened and I was confused, but based on my, and others, experience in Dublin, I now understand. I hope they are not owned by the same person.

They are not owned by the same people. Livermore is owned by a family. The service and sales people are great. The service department knows me by name now. Marshall is my service advisor there and he takes good care of me. If you go by for service tell him Nick Deluca sent you.

You can also look up factory interest rates online, that's what I did. I waited until i saw it at 1.9% before going to the dealerships. Not sure if that's low but for me, that was good enough for me to buy.

Livermore lost me as a customer. High price; high pressure; zero followthrough; broken promises; lame excuses: "They had only been open for a year". I told them I'd never cross their threshold again.

The one on Vasco Road??? They treated me fine. I worked them for two grand off sticker. Three days after I got it home I found a scratch near the drivers door mirror. The fixed it for free, with a free loaner. They had to send it to Cooks Collision. Looks good. So far everyone there has been very nice to me. Can't complain.

Yeah, Vasco Road. After I pulled the plug, they tried to salvage the transaction with a 2k price adjustment, but by that time it was more about the principle for me. I don't take kindly to being jacked around. Besides, I felt that if I took them up on it, I'd have just bought myself a 2 grand continuation of more hassles.
