I'm probably one of the only few who continue to run the OEM BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A tire on my 2007 Tacoma TRD. For the type of driving I do, I've always found them to be adequate, however probably noisier than I'd care to have.

All that being said, for those who still run these tires or recall running these tires for any length of time, what tire pressure do you or did you use? Without offending anyone, I'm really not interested (at this current time) in hearing how crappy you think these tires are or that I should change to something else, etc. I'll probably consider that down the road and start an new thread about that. In addition, with all due respect, I'm not interested in hearing about the pressure you're using in your NON-BFG Rugged Trail T/A either, as that does me absolutely no good. Lastly, I've already read about the chalking of the tires method to determine proper pressure.

All that being said and assuming I have pissed-off and/or offended everyone, please let me know about your running pressures in the BFG Rugged Trail T/A tires on a Tacoma TRD, with Access Cab.

I've gotten the most help concerning my Tacoma from here, as opposed to everywhere else I've ever tried, so I'm counting on you folks to come through for me again.

    Thanks in advance.

Are these tires really that sh*tty? They have been on my truck since it was new, no complaints here. Going on a 2500-3000 mile roadtrip at the end of the month though, first real test there I guess...

Oh to answer your question, I run them about 30-31

Again, I don't want take this thread down that path. I'm on my 2nd set and I have over 100k miles on my truck. Since you have them, could you tell me what pressure you use?

Thanks. I didn't see your response while I was typing. I've been running 38-40 PSI, but was thinking of going lower for a smoother, less bumpy ride. I wanted to see what other were doing.

Yea that does seem a bit high. I think lowering it may make for a smoother ride, it may be more wear on the tire but shouldn't be significant I wouldn't think.

I'd say if they work for you continue running them, just be aware there are so many tire choices out there that you may like better. I'd say run them at about 35psi and see if you get different/better results.

I got the best results at with factory pressures. I got 75K out of the pair that came with my truck.

What was the "factory pressure" you used?

Agreed. I was thinking of dropping to 35-PSI and see how that goes. I know that sometimes even at 40-PSI, my tires look under-inflated. I know you shouldn't use that, but that's what I see.

29/32 I think it is. It's written on the inside panel of the drivers door, at least on the 2013 it is

Thanks. That's what I was thinking too, to drop down to 35 and see how that goes. Occasionally, I tow an enclosed trailer and don't change any pressures. If I go with 35-PSI, I'll probably want to air-up when I tow, especially in the rear.

With the factory pressures I towed a lot. I moved some one from New Mexico to Northern CA with a full trailer and bed.

I frequently haul a trailer with scrap steel to the recycler with a gross weight of 6K with those pressures as well. Everything was fine.

Thanks for the response(s). I think that's what I'll do....... air down to 35-PSI and run it like that for awhile.

The plate at the driver's door does say 29 front / 32 rear (my 2012). I keep both front and rear at 32. My driveway is a chaulky substance (road base) and leaves an excellent indication of how much tread meets the road .... 32 has been perfect for me. I also tow a 30' trailer weighing in at roughly 1850 pounds .... never a problem.

What's surprising to me hearing these number is that, like I said, I've been running 38-40 PSI, since owning this truck. Compared to the much lower numbers you guys are running, I would have expected to see a bunch of center-thread wear on my tires, but I've never had that issue. All these years, wear has been even.

I run 33 in the front 31 in the rear. works well with the rugged fails on the road.

For you guys running pressure between 29-33, do your tires always "look" under inflated?
