So i am currently in the middle of the Black Headlight Mod and it hasn't been too difficult so far, although i found out a couple of things about my Taco..

First off i did buy it used: a 2007 Double Cab 4x4 with 6 Spd with 41,xxx miles

Well i found out that someone must have tried, unsuccessfully, to remove the headlights before me because the two screws (one on each headlight) that attach the headlight to the front bumper were screwed in but the plastic part of the headlight that they go through was broken off !!!

not too bad though cause i can attach a bigish washer where the broken platic part is for a new attachment point...

i also found out that someone had also tried, unsucessfully, to remove one of the side blinker/marker lights and had broken off a corner of it :annoyed:

    stupid people.

but back to where i am at.
i have taken them apart, sanded, taped, and painted them and they are now drying:D i used the krylon fusion ultra flat black cause i didnt want them all glossy...and let me tell you...it is SUPERRRR flat/matte

    i love it:thumbsup:

i will put them back on in the morning
i also relocated the horn because i shall be doing the satoshi grill in 2-3 weeks and i thought i might as well while i was waiting in between coats.

also 2 weeks before i did the DRL mod, Fog Lights anytime mod, and tailgate reinforcement mod/fix... im loving the progress although i wish i could do them all at once!!!

pic shall be up tomorrow evening:cool:

    UPDATE!!!

I'm finished and it turned out wayyy better than i thought it would :D

    here are the promised pics

Good luck! Make sure to clip the base of the headlight in properly to the lens cover. I didn't do this on the driver side and noticed it rubbed up against the lens cover and took off some of the paint. I'll be fixing this tomorrow. fo sho! Other than that easy and cool mod. Can't wait to see the pics!

Same thing happened to me. Luckily though they zip tied the broken pieces on so I was able to JB Weld them back on.

Sick, looks good. I kinda wanna redo mine so the indicators aren't blacked out too... I love that look. Of course, redo involves... not using this set lol. I still have my originals too but I did scratch the pass side taking it out :/

yeah...i dont like the full black out as much...i feel like it makes it look bugeyed!!!

haha it takes a bit of time and patience taping up the small and hard to access areas but it was well worth it in the end...a good tip though, use the green scotch painters tape...its for Automotive and is way stickier than the blue stuff...leaves a lot sharper line and sticks well even with oily and dirty hands that you are bound to have when workin on the truck :D
