I never look at calories any more. I went into mcdonalds for the first time in a while and they now put the calories next to the item. Looks like I can't even lie to myself when I eat there now.

On another note the uni gym was PACKED at 6 am. Fuck. Some little freshy about got his face beat in by my roommate haha. This tiny dude was busy looking at himself in the mirror in front of the big boy weights so my roomy asked him to move back so we can get to the weights. The freshy preceded to follow us around saying how my roommate is sooooooo big and at one point even handed him a 10lb weight and said "You feel that weight, big man!? How heavy do you think that is?" One very annoyed and pissed off look had his work out partner escorting his cocky self out of the gym.

I guess so. He was curling and doing lateral raises with 10lbs in front of the 50-110lb dumbbells. They put all the light weight off in a corner so he had to just be trying to piss people off. I may be on YouTube in a few days...

Not sure about the frat but possibly a ROTC kid. I just don't care so much if people are directly in front of the mirror since the gym is under renovation and has little to no space. Just take a step back in between sets and be observant of others.

Also, I hate the leg day movement. Now the squat racks are filled every day with guys that can't do a proper squat in hopes that they don't get called out on skipping legs. Good thing I got a home gym!

ha you'd hate me then...I do legs twice a week!

Muscle soreness doesn't equal muscle growth. As long as you're getting stronger each week, you're doing good. I haven't really had much upper body soreness, besides by back either, but I am getting stronger each week, so I look at that as progression. I don't know if splitting the workouts into two lower-volume workouts has something to do with it, but, as long as my strength keeps going up, I'm sticking with the upper/lower splits!

Also, if you did the workout today, you're not going to get DOMS for 1-2 more days, if you even get them at all. DOMS stand for delayed onset muscle soreness...keyword, "Delayed"

Gotcha. I'm guessing it's because it's my first real workout including deadlifts. I was always worried about hurting my back with them. I'm not too thrilled about two leg days a week but I need it for rugby.

Lol you probably hate me, my leg days are 2 hours long, and most of the time I'm just resting.

The good thing about doing legs twice a week is that they won't be as sore as when doing them once a week....at least, for me anyway. Deadlifts are very dangerous if done improperly.

Yeah just ease into the deadlifts. You'll be making HUGE gains on them in no time and they'll make you stronger at all your other lifts. Form is 100% the most important thing.

I use a belt for anything over around 185. I was actually doing them yesterday and, on my last set, I knew my last rep would be sloppy, so I didn't even do it. One minor screw up doing a deadlift can send your ass straight to snap city. It reminds me a lot of a golf swing: there's so much shit to remember at once for it to be right that the only way to perfect it is through practice, so it eventually becomes second nature. That's one reason I'm glad I'm doing deads twice a week now: extra practice!
