So I went into the dealer today and wanted to look for a 14 and when they didn't have what I wanted I asked if I could order a 14. The sales man told me that because they are coming out with a new body style in 15 that I can no longer order a 14. I was unaware of a new body style, is this true or was he just another asshole salesman that didn't want to sit down and deal with someone who doesn't look like they can afford a new truck.

There are members here with 2015s, no body style changes from 2014 or 2013.

I think you met an asshole salesman... as unfortunately many are (including some of my relatives). The 2015 Pro is out, that body style is the same. The Tundra has had some changes, its sheetmetal looks like a Honda Ridgeline IMO.

Complain to the sales manager, and ask for the purchasing manager.

Better yet, since you know what you want already save yourself some frustration; Call the closest 5 dealerships ask for their sales department and tell them exactly what you want down to the color and options, and ask if they can find a 14 or order a 15 with those exact specs and say you won't buy anything else.

Then sit back in the comfort of your home while they all scramble to get back to you with their lowest price. Then when you have a few prices, call them back and pit them all against each other to beat the low price. The 15's are already out, so to get exactly what you want they will probably have to order a 15.

I was looking at Tacomas today at my local dearship - salesman said they could not order 14's but that they might still get some 14's that were left over but they wouldn't know until they rolled off the truck

I couldn't find 5 dealerships that were interested in ordering me a truck, let alone 5 interested in competing for a sale only one of them was going to get.

Dealers have to submit orders for vehicles to be built, Toyota has to approve those orders before they're sent to the manufacturing plants for build dates. I don't remember 100% when that cut off is for the model years, but I'm pretty sure it's early July or early August. Orders after that will have to wait for 2015 official production, so your salesman is accurate there.

A 2014 cannot be factory ordered because they're done making them. Any dealer should be willing to search inventory of other dealers to see if they can find what you're looking for.

Dealer I was at on Friday searched 75 dealer inventories in Kansas City region for me. Said they can't really search other regions.

Fuck this. How do you guys afford new trucks. With insurance it would cost me over 500 a month just to have a new truck. 180 for insurance when I have a spotless record. Fuck that.

I pay $106 with State Farm and zero deductible with window insurance also with 0 deductible. I pay Toyota a fuckton, though.

Generally, saying something not true is a lie. Ignorance of truth doesn't matter. It isn't a good question to ask a sales guy questions that the purchasing manager only really knows, but that's a different point.

Do you have a clean driving record? How old are you?

I have a Tacoma & a Ford van and pay less than a $100 per month.

I'm 25 with a spotless driving record and pay $120 for my new '14 Tacoma and my wife's new '14 Rav4 (multi policy discount with home insurance too). Just traded in my 08 DCSB and that was actually slightly more expensive on insurance. I believe because of side curtain airbags??? Anyways I use Nationwide.
