^this. I totally fucked my lower back doing deads a few years ago and couldn't do them for 6-7 months. I don't even risk it anymore. Sure, I can pull 405 without a belt, but I'd rather do it with one and be able to continue doing them in the long run.

I'm currently eating 3580 calories a day...on the outskirts of snap city

So I just saw an ad on my computer for this: 682fa478ba3ce2f081b1b983f309b33e_5ed24b76cd1e28d9f647fd15345a05d0afe12dff.jpg

If it legitimately looks like dog shit has been spread on top of the burger before ingestion, just imagine what it looks like on the way out?? And normally they doctor up their promo photos to make them look better than actual.

Phuck Mcdonalds. I'm too old for that shit

sure, when you're lifting some serious weight a belt is beneficial but with proper form, mechanics and strength there's no need for a belt at such low weight. personally i don't want to have to rely on a device to allow me to lift what i want to lift but to each their own... gotta take the training wheels off at some point.

Yeah, but when you've hit a wall at 200 mph and walk away from it, it's best to wear a helmet from now on.

EDIT: and besides, it's not like a belt is like a bench press shirt and actually helping with lifting weights; it's simply offering back support. There's this theory, as well:

"your abs work harder when you use a belt, because they have something to contract against. This increases pressure in your trunk. Belts are good.

Get your lifts high enough up that you warrant a belt though."

It's kinda like people getting mad when I use wrist straps to do dumbbell shrugs; they say that it's not helping with my grip...well, I'm not doing dumbbell shrugs for my grip. I'm doing dumbbell shrugs to work on traps. I'm not going to neglect traps by going down in weight by not using straps, just like I'm not going to risk hurting my back doing a 405 dl without a belt

EDIT #2: maybe I'm just a bitch tho :anonymous:

I was a sprint swimmer in college.. So I had to swim between 5-10 miles a day... And I would MUCH rather do that than run even 2 miles

Why oops? Aren't dead lifts to strengthen your back? If you're putting on a belt to be safe and help support weight you can't correctly lift without a belt, take the fucker off, lower the weight, grow your fucking support muscles and throw your damn shitass belt in the trash. I've never used a belt, that's what muscles and core are for. Build your shit...without artificial support junk.

And that's my rant about belts.
