you know...the third day i owned my truck i was involved in a hit and run...dented the front bumper...then less than 2 weeks later some jackass backed into the same bumper (still dented and crooked) and tried to tell me it was my fault...even though i was driving down a lane in the best buy parking lot and he backed out of his space into me...

i know the feeling all too well...though i bought my truck used...it looked showroom new...it had been WELL taken care of...i got it 3 years old with less than 30K and there werent ANY dents or scratches or dirt or rust anywhere on it...my parents thought it was a brand new truck when i brought it home...and then 3 days after i bought it...seriously...i bought it thurs...it got hit sat night...im driving home from downtown and im sitting at a redlight...light turns green...i wait for a second because thats what i do (and so should everyone)...i start into the intersection and see headlights...slam on brakes...his rear driver fender flare and bumper scrape my bumper...i ripped off his flare and his bumper didnt look much better hanging off the back of the truck...he didnt even slow down...just kept on going...

unfortunately i had had 3 or 4 drinks and the damage really wasnt as bad as i made it out to be...so after i sat in the parking lot on the corner and cooled down i drove home...i figured he'd be super pissed in the morning when he went outside and saw his fubared tundra that i didnt need to chase him down or call the police...

3 years later i pretty much dare someone to bump into me...

im surprised i havent been in any other accidents...people in columbia SUCK at driving...no matter where i go i have people ride my bumper like they wanna park their car up my exhaust...

oh dont believe me that columbia has the worst drivers?

I betcha most everybody here has had a hit/run. Yes it IS a violation-not a good feeling at all-we feel ya here. Just keep the perspective that it could've been a lot worse. When you drive, double up your defensive driving; think about if there was any way you could have seen him coming and made a move to avoid him....you know what I mean. Learn from the incident. It's good to do 'cause unfortunately there's waaaaay more incompetent AND crazy people AND drunks AND doped up losers now who are sharing the road with you, the guy who was just on his way to make his living...gees! People like that SUCK:(

Well, thats what insurance is for..... sucks but at least it will get fixed and you were not injured. There was a an accident in California on the news and the chopper was showing a honda that was tore in half, I think they were saying a lady and her kid were in the car. When people drive too drunk or just drive like a$$holes they fail to think about the lives they put at risk, I young mother and her infant for example...... and after the accident what about the family of the dead or injured.

Maybe you will see the guy at a taco bell drive thru when he is sober, then kick his a$$

I dont know how insurance works all throught out north america, but in ontario, canada there is a no fault policy meaning if you put a claim in it dosnt matter if the accident was your fault or not your rates will still go up, I was driving home this winter In my new 2004 f-150 4.6 v8 4x4, reg cab, XLT, Nice truck man and I had just got a K&N intake, anyways I was driving home this winter on a bad stretch of road, was coming around a sharp coner doin about 25 mph, when the car in the oncoming lane starts wandering into my lane, I swivered to to the right caught my self, then swirved back towards the left lost control hit a farmers field tractor drive (there made of stone and concrete) skipped across it and landed on my side in the ditch, the truck was written right off (fram twisted, Lower control over sheared right off, engine busted off mounts and crushed radiator) and my airbags didnt even go off. Either way I got a new vehicle (my tacoma) witch I am real happy about what Im not happy about is not doing anything wrong and my insurance goes up from $3200 to $5760 a year. My friend is getting the pictures of the aftermath off his cell phone Ill post them up in a seperate thread sometime.

PLEASE tell me that you made a mistake and that is the price for a year.... Which is still outrageous but if you're paying 69K a year for insurance I'll volunteer to quit my job and be your chauffeur for that. Heck I'll even provide the truck!

That's how it works my friend. The younger you are the more you pay. My insurance didn't go down until I turned 25. Now I only pay $70 a month for insurance.

Man I just jump outof my truck piss so when he ran I was blind by rage. So by the time I thought about the LP it was to far to make out.
Just brought some N-Fab step bars so if it happens again they should not even touch the body of me truck to bad, but it will be pain for them.:D
