It is rumored that that VIN is required to order any of the TRD Pro parts from the Toyota Parts counter. I know that other manufaturers have done the same thing to keep certain cars exclusive. I need it to prove other Pro models have come with the skid plate.

Silver (Aluminum) Skid Plate is an option on the Pro - Black is standard on the Pro model. You have to pony up more money to get the Silver one.

Yes I understand that, but why would it be in someones interest to provide their vin, which could potentially get flagged as misused, and down the road when they actually do need the part they wouldn't be provided one?

    Also, just seems skeezy!

You're right.. it could be a problem. I was just answering the question about why a VIN would be needed. At $499 I don't see a whole lot of people even attempting it. I wouldn't ask someone to post their VIN to out in the open either.

Skid plate is optional. Not standard on final TRD Pro specs for Tacoma.

So a question to any Tacoma Pro owners-

How is the ride on the street and highway?
Are the tires noisy like some reviews are saying?

Would be buying to drive on pavement 98% of the time but love the looks compared to a non pro.

Except for the price tag of 38k-42k, I love everything about the TRD Pro. I wish the "normal" TRD Offroad package was this. The color matched grille, mirrors, and rear bumper are what most people wanted. The hood scoop looks nice. The suspension is perfect for most people's off road needs. I love it. But that darn price tag is unreal. Maybe my old brain needs to realize that vehicle prices keep going up and up. But that 40k price just seems crazy to me.

Doesnt that suppose to be a TRD-Pro decal sticker or it was removed for a discount?
Looks pretty much like previous tacomas except the grille, which is the only way to identifying it from the rest.

Ok - so my dealer told me he had talks with NA service, and the PRO is definitively rated at 5000lbs towing with the port installed hitch. No other tow package is available on the truck, and the real reason is unknown. They surmise something to do with fuel economy, the suspension being softer/higher - who knows. Very strange since the baja is essentially the same and came with one. SO - unless someone has seen one with the bigger battery, alternator, trans cooler, and 7 pin........ I'm canceling and getting a TRD off-road or baja (if I can find one). Not happy.

Definitely have seen them on paper but not in person with or without the TW Tow Package - so I think your dealer has wrong info. We will see when more show up on the lot.

Wrong. 100% wrong. See attached pics of TRD pro local with full tow package.

Great question. I have spent the past month tracking down everything I could on the Pro, so I feel your pain. I found a dealer with a great salesperson, and was able to get most of my questions answered. (All have intermittent wipers, home link, etc). The last remaining question I have is about the nav. Every TRD pro I have seen has the SD card logo on the front, which I thought was the give away that the Tacoma had nav. But none of the pros have nav listed on the sticker. That's the only bit of info I still need.

I would have one ordered, but they played games at the last minute on price. The search continues.

Well, if its worth anything - the dealer told me all of them come with Nav but JBL isn't an option.

Oh - and I have my name on one, but I don't know if it's coming with the tow package which is a deal breaker for me.

If this helps my Trd Pro did not have Navigation, or Entune listed on the window sticker, but it is equipped with it.
