Hello all, looking for a little guidance from the experts here.

I have a chance to buy a 2013 ACLB Super White TX Baja edition Taco. 8,800 miles, Entune, tow package, etc. .... "the works" really. Price is $31k....is this a good/reasonable deal?

    Thanks!!

Sounds about right. Maybe slightly on the expensive side but not by very much. Baja's are expensive. If you plan on doing mods to the suspension just get a lower model. It'll end up being a lot better. But I love those rims. Even if the offset isn't all that desirable.

I know it's fairly new, but I wouldn't pay anything north of 30 for a used truck.

Have you compared the used price to a new price? What's the difference in price?

The truck model is 2 years old. This is the basics of what they sold new.

I would not give over 27,500, maybe 28,000.

I think it's a reasonable deal, not a great deal, but I wouldn't spend 30k on a used truck either.

You can get a brand new DC 4x4 TRD OR for 31k. That's exactly what I paid for mine fully loaded with 5 miles on it. For the exact same price I would go with a brand new fully loaded TRD OR instead.

Thanks for all of the thoughts. I've done a little bit of research, how is it that the OR package is better than the Baja package? Both have the towing package, locking rear diff, upgraded suspension, etc. What specifically is better about the OR package? I don't plan on modifying the suspension on this truck or doing any sort of super serious off-road travel or overland type stuff.

Then you probably don't want the Baja. It's meant for more serious off-road. It has a better suspension than the OR.

I guess what I meant by "serious off-road" is that I won't be taking this rock-crawling or to Moab or anything serious like that. My usage would definitely see it's fair share of sh*tty, rutted, rooty, rocky, poorly maintained fire/access/hunting trails in the Sierras.

I was reading the other guy's post as the OR package being superior to the Baja package.

    Thanks!

Baja has a mild lift and more aggressive tires, that's about it besides cosmetics. Get an OR and put better tires IMO, you will save a lot of money.

Looks like a DCSB with the OR package is about $33k. ACLB is about $32k. Of course neither of these configurations include the "special" wheels or "performance" exhaust. The exhaust...I'm indifferent about, but I do like the wheels. So technically I should add $2k to the price of either of those configurations.

Guess I'm gonna have to sleep on it for a couple of days, paying $31k for a used truck, when I could get a new one for about $2k more. Or I just wait for the Pro model which is supposed to hit showrooms sometime this month, or so I'm told. But I'm guessing those will be somewhere around $35k

    Thanks!

That seems to be the consensus in my thread, and in the other threads I searched before posting mine.

Pro models will be 40+ which is absolutely redonk. You could get a new OR off the showroom for 29k and it would be about 31k OTD with TTL (depending on where you live).

Depends on what your definition of "better" is? The OR package isn't necessarily more capable off-road than the Baja, but I don't think it's really less capable either. Out in the real world, I don't think the stock Baja is going to actually go anywhere that a stock TRD OR wouldn't be able to make it when using the same tires.

The OR is probably a better value and you could get a brand new truck vs a used truck where you don't know how it was treated. (For all we know someone could have traded in that used Baja because it didn't jump sand dunes out in the desert as well as they thought it might)

If you really want to buy a used fully loaded Baja, over a brand new fully loaded TRD OR for the same price then go for it. It's your money and you should spend it on whatever makes you happiest.

31k isn't bad for a "used" baja with only 8000 miles on the odo. The OP is in Cali the 31k seems to be a fair starting price for a baja he can probably negotiate the price down to maybe 29.. New the bajas cost around 35-38 depending on upgrades like nav/jbl tube steps etc..

Yeah, I'm out in CA which means 9.25% sales tax (new or used) and about another 1% in various "fees."

I have tried to get the truck down to $29k and they won't budge. $31k is as low as they'll go unfortunately.

It doesn't have tube steps (which is fine because I'd like to put some BAMF sliders on it) and I can't tell from the photos they have posted if it has JBL or Navi. I'm going to go check it out in person and see.

Checked with my local dealer on the TRD Pro Tacoma and he told me they'll be selling them for $38,500...I laughed, said "thanks," and hung up.

The Tacoma is an insanely popular vehicle out here in the Northern CA area. Dealers and private sellers are savvy to that fact and negotiate very little. For example, I had 2008 DCSB OR that I sold back in March :( for the same price I paid for it back in 2011. It's an odd market on the Tacos up here...

Just found out that this Baja I'm looking at doesn't have Nav which I think means no JBL either...makes the price "feel" a little high. I'd "feel" better at $30k...but I don't think they'll budge. I think the thing to do is go down there and wave cash in their faces. See if the smell of green changes their tune.
