Rain-X

I applied Rain-x to my windshield & now when i use my wipers it streaks, i don't get a clean wipe from my wipers. I cleaned my wiper blades with alcohol, then used Eagle 1 glass cleaner to clean my windshield before applying Rain-X. My truck is less than a year old so my wipers are still good. I'm also looking for quality wipers? What is a good aftermarket wiper? I don't need any for snow, my area doesn't get a lot of snow, more rain than snow.

I use some bottle of rain-x, wipes on with a built in felt pad and has a rag in the bottom. Works good but you have to wipe off the windshield after the fluid dries with the rag. Don't know if that helps ya any.

If you get wipers watch the packaging close, people have a habit of getting the plastic clips they lost or something from a box in the store. Yes i fell for it once.

 

if you used the liquid rain-x, you need to wipe it in with a paper towel until the windshield is clear.

 

That's the curse of rain-x. It's a great product, until you have to use your wipers.

 

cleaning your blades with alcohol can actually dry them out. clean the windshield with stoner invisible glass and reapply the rain-x. clan the wipers with vinegar. should help.

as for good wipers......bosch icons...ftw!

 

i have to disagree...unless my expectations are too high. i bought the Icons, and got maybe 4 good months of use out of them. suckers weren't cheap either. i went back to the factory wipers with rain x and am again happy. i have a friend with a silverado who also has gone back to an oem style wiper after the icons.

what ever happened to being able to replace just the rubber on wipers? did this for years on my first two vehicles...now you gotta buy the whole damn assembly.

 

have had my icons on for over a year now....and never have had a problem with mine. i clean my outer windshield every few weeks and reapply rain-x, so that probably has helped. i also apply glass science scrub and gel once ina while......pretty sure that helps as well.

 

I often wondered about that. I used to see impressive looking demos at boat shows for Rain-X, it always showed it being used without wipers. Well my truck has wipers, that literally wipe away all of the water. So I guess I don't need it?

Is it good for side/back windows?

 

I've thought about it, but I never actually tried it on other windows. It is great for shower walls,though. Also been thinking about applying it to my house windows, too, to see if they stay clean for longer.

 

i have been a rain x advocate since '95, and keep my glass clean. the Icons just didn't live up to the asking price for me. maybe they do better on the contour of the 1st gen glass? if i ever go with a premium wiper again...i think i may try PIAA super silicone brand. i still have about 6 free wiper coupons from dealership that i got when i purchased the truck...so maybe after they are gone...i'll give technology another chance

This. Stoner's is awesome. Also, I had to change my blades out well before a year was up (after about 5-6 months). I do live in AZ so wipers die quick, but unless they're constantly getting wet the rubber can and will dry out fairly fast, especially if you park outside where UV hits them.

This time I picked up some RainX wipers (never treated the windshield). I have to say, I'm extremely impressed with them, by far the best wipers I've used yet. They were a little pricey but, I've always been disappointing with the others in the past. Also note I'm getting plenty of good use with them here in Oregon at the moment.

 

I have Rain-X on all the glass on my truck (outside mirrors included) and it helps tremendously. Where I live from April until October you get heavy dew in the morning about 3 times a week. The Rain-X helps a lot... I clear the windshield with a quick squeegee and then drive away. Just the wind from going 30mph in my neighborhood takes care of the rest of the water.

 

i use rain-x glass cleaner for all the auto glass. i also use the rain-x brand washer fluid...never have to re-apply just refill. as far as wiper blades, with all the rain and very intense sunshine here in pensacola, i replace mine every 4 months. i clean them with a towel spritzed with the rain-x washer fluid. no streaking issues. never use alcohol on rubber.

I use rain X just cua we dont have intermittent whipers.

 

i used Rain X on my windshield, when i use my wipers i have a streak. I clean the wiper blades & windshield prior to applying Rain X.
