    i changed my oil this morning... the awesome about this time is that the oil didn't even drip from the oil filter... I was like what the heck?! I didn't driver the truck on saturday and I let sit until this morning and when I tried to un-screw the old filter. I usually have a can to catch the drippings but NOTHING!!! It was awesome... the filter keep the oil in! Sweet!! :)

    Valvoline synthetic for my truck

    Mobil1 for my turbo car

    That is after lot of research that I've decided those choices. So far after 4 years od using Mobil on my car I'm satisfied and valcoline seems to do the job well too.

    I've chosen valvoline for the truck since the oil film is more resistant to pressure.

    And be sure if you buy two that they give you two receipts. Damned fine print says you have to have ORIGINAL receipts, no photocopies.

    I guess I'll take one back tomorrow and get a refund, then re-buy it.

    FYI to anyone unclear on the rebate limit of 2 of these... I called the rebate center and asked about the limit of 2 per household/address. Talked to Amber. She said its ok to buy 2 of the 5 qt bottles on a single receipt, and just fill out and send in BOTH of the filled out rebate cards in one envelope with the one store receipt. Just fill out the separate rebate cards with the same name and address and they will honor both rebates. Hope this is clear.

    Well, they should be more clear on the form about that. No problem for me, I did the return and re-purchase on the 31st, so I got in under the wire.

    The one time I used penzoil was in my TT stealth. The oil pressure wouldn't move at all, and it was at norm fill. 20w50. Drained and fillled with castrol syntec (my normal), pressure was normal. Same weight, 20w50. I'll never use penzoil again.

    I heard this from my co-worker. Is it true that once you go full synthetic, you can't go back to regular oil? It will do more damage.

    Can i go back to regular non-synthetic oil once i have used full synthetic?

    Yes you can go back to to regular oil they even make oil that is a blend of covential and syn.

    Nice 6spd,V6, very solid truck
    None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
    I love Mobil 1 and use it exclusively but two good friends of mine, who have 04, super charged V6's both use dino in there truck and have for 15yrs. Religiously changing every 3K using Castro GT.
    When it goes on sale they buy 20 gallons of it and store it for future use.
    Nothing wrong with either syn oil or dino oil. Just a difference of opinion and price of syn vs. dino oil.
    I prefer the benefits of the syn oil , they prefer dino oil, as do you and others. A win situation for all. \

    First Oil change Amsoil! Currently purchasing parts to install a dual by-pass filter system. Basically the first filter acts as your normal filter does. The second filter draws about 10% of the total oil and filters it down to two microns. Clean oil is the MOST important thing after all!
    It is really easy once installed and I have no problem going 25,00 miles between oil changes..... Had unit installed on my 96 taco w/ 4 cylinder ran it for 275k miles with no problems.....

    so looks like the oils gonna need to be changed this week before i drive out to ponoma, ca from tempe, az. so i was thinking im gonna splurge and try out some sythetic, more specifically the royal purple sythetic.

    my only question is, here in az doesnt get very cold and i was curious which one would be a better way to go: the 5w20 or the 5w-30??

    Go with the 5W - 30. I would implore you to learn a bit about synthetics. The traditional Dino oil weight ratings really don't apply. The weight ratings on synthetics is more a designation on their protection and not the pour points as has been traditional with the Dino's.
    If and when you switch make the decision and STAY with what you have it is NOT a good idea to go back to dino oil after having a synthetic installed. You will see foaming and nasty looking oil if you mix the two.
