On August 8th I traded in my '05 4Runner Limited with 160k on the dial. I was sporting BFG Rugged Terrain's 265/75R17 with a 2.5" Daystar lift and SpiderTrax and some other goodies. Truck was good to me, but with my busy schedule it was tough for me to work on it when something broke. I decided to pull the trigger and started my research, at first the search started out with Cert Used, but then the dealer talked me into going New; I went back homed armed with literature and started researching trying to figure out what features I needed to have and which ones would have been ‘bonus’.

Example, I came to the conclusion that the TRD trucks where a little too much (budget) for me. And the Pre-Runner truck would just be a tease for me. I didn’t want buy to buy a White or Black vehicle again.

So I began my search for a 4x4 Access Cab SR with the 2.7L I4/5-Speed manual. I went back to my dealer he tried locating one, but couldn’t because how the other dealers ‘coded’ the truck in the dealer network. And he only had one, a loaded TRD Double Cab that wouldn’t have worked out for any of us. So off to the other Toyota dealerships, I knew my search would be tricky because they have have “stopped” delivering 2014s and the 2015s haven’t started production yet. I ended up going to 6 different dealerships looking for exactly what I wanted (within 2 hour drive I have over 30 Toyota dealerships). I had one dealership that wanted to dump a Base Double Cab with Navi (I can’t live without Cruise Control) on me.

I found what I was looking for and purchased a 2014 Tacoma Access Cab, 4x4, 2.7L I4 with 5sp Manual Trans with the SR and Convenience packages in Sky Silver Metallic. I am happy for my decision; to help myself keep the truck for a long while I added the 5yr/100k Platinum Warranty.

I have some general plans for it, but nothing is happening anytime soon.

First round of mod's I like to accomplish:
    Morimoto XB LED Fog Lights
    Windows vent (Weathertech)
    All-Weather floor mats
    Tint windows
Change the wiper stalk to an intermittent style (OEM/Factory parts)
Soft Tonneau cover (roll-up, Velcro, sits on top of bed rails)
    Interior LED bulb swap
Add some accent/glow lighting on the interior
Change Headlight blubs and Amber color on the front (Philips Xtreme Vision)
    Front Light Bar

Long term Goals(dreams) that I have:
    Bigger tires (265/75R16 or 255/85R16)
    2-3” suspension lift (shocks/coils)
    Gears with traction aids
    Bumpers and Sliders

on my old 4Runner, I converted all the interior bulbs over to 6K 5050SMD LEDs. The first night in the Tacoma, I couldn't see much with the dull brown incandescent color. So I went onto eBay and purchased some LEDs.
This time I went with the new Samsung LEDs in bright white (chips: 1x 2323 in Maps, and 9x 5360 in Dome.

    Price: $15 (with extra bulbs)

Nice upgrade. What are the extra buttons on the left side of the steering wheel, at the bottom?

    The 3 buttons are:
Traction Off (turns on the Auto LSD)
    Clutch Start Cancel
    RSCA Off

About a month ago I added some The Retrofit Source's Morimoto XB LED Fog Lights. I used the iJDMtoy/MotoringMax H11 Add-On fog light harness and On Board Air's Bunny Burner's (827B).

TRS and OBA products are excellent and would do business with these guys again.

iJDMtoy on the other hand... the harness needed some tweaking in order for it to work properly.

I didn't take any pictures of the install, I do have my Fog light triggered on/off by the ignition* with the Push Button switch doing the off/on function (fogs turn off when key is removed). The Fogs operate independently from the head lights. *I used an add-a-fuse into the Washer fuse for my trigger line into the push button switch. The 'bunny burner' illumination its T-Tapped on on of my factory switches.

    Now for the pictures.

    1) Low Beams
    2) High Beams
    3) Fogs
    4) Fogs & Lows
    5) Fogs & High

    6) close up of the switch, its blue but the pic came out in white.
    7) the Blue matches better with the gauge cluster than the white-green

Well this build came to an end. After paying off the debt from a divorce a few years back, I decided to treat myself and I bought a '16 Tacoma DCSB TRD Off Road.
