No specific actions for specific years were mentioned, just that there was a coming recall in my area and to wait for the letter.

Good luck. It just seems that the metal used, especially the welds, is not very good grade. The corrosion really accelerated on mine this year.

The deepest area now has a hole - I put a screwdriver on it and it went right through - I'll be calling for an appointment today.

Hey all I wanted to chime in with my experience so far.
I bought my truck new in 05 in WV. It spent all of its life in KY and OH.
My frame had significant rust and I have wire brushed it several times and rattle canned it with black paint.

Took it to the dealer on Tuesday for the frame recall for the corrosion protection and they called me yesterday to tell me they are going to order a new frame and replace all the hardware during that transition (brake lines and such). I asked if they were offering a buy back or great deal towards a new truck and the dealer told me no that Toyota was offering a frame replacement only for my application.

I have some concerns, that's a lot of Toyota's money for them to do that on my truck. Also, I'm not doubting their abilities or saying I don't want a new frame, but my truck may never be the same after this ordeal. It's bean a great truck and still looks new at 167,000 miles on the clock.

Any other experiences where you have received a new frame or told that's what you need for your truck?

Moving forward if it all goes well I'm going to apply some fluid film once a year to keep it protected I guess..

I'm worried about that too. One loose brake line, one improper ground and i'll never trust it again....i love my truck far too much for them to "hoe-handle" it. No offense to any one who actually does quality toyota tech work :) Thats just me whining lol

I am curious what dealers you are using, I live I Owen Co., KY and would like to get mine inspected. I am curious to know about the overall experience you have had because I may drive to either dealer based on your experience.
    Thanks.

I recently had my frame replaced after an accident and I think its actually better then it was before. Only downside was I had a shop that I trust and have a good relationship with do it, not the dealer

Well. I would think that once the frame is replaced and they clean up the car when they give it to you - you would be in a great position to trade in a great truck with a new frame. Trade it in and get what you want ...

I sure hope this is a good come back for my truck. I'll stay positive! I would love to be able to work with them on this be a great time for a suspension upgrade, lift kit, paint the frame and prep it for protection and all that stuff..haha

Imagine the distrust you'll have when the frame breaks in half humming along on a pleasant Sunday drive.

Hey fellow Canucks...WATCH OUT...!!!! I took my '06 in yesterday and the service manager walked around under it on the hoist for maybe 5 minutes.... did not even touch the frame...(he just pointed out the areas where the Corrosion Free has been worn off and there is minor surface rust...

That was the CRC inspection... I then asked if they are gonna recommend spraying their shit on it and he said I', have to wait till next fall, cuz they are booked (can't do it in winter cuz this shit is toxic and they have to shut down all of the bays to do it with the doors open)...WTF...!!!

I will not put their shit on my truck and keep using Corrosion Free...!!

He then said that Toyota Canada DOES NOT pay for the complete frame replacement job...only the frame and labour....anything that breaks like brake lines, motor mounts, etc.... The customer has to pay for labour & parts....

He then said that they have replaced 8 or 10 frames and the cheapest cost to the owner was $4,000.00..... WTF...????

I thought our neighbours to the south were getting the frame and everything that breaks, etc during the process.... Am I wrong???

In the USA, are they paying everything..??

I basically told him to pound salt and I'll not buy another Toyota product...!!

    Over...

I was on the Toyota website trying to build a 2015 Tacoma. When a chat session with a toyota representative began,i asked a lot of questions. But when I asked if the Tacoma frame rust issues were resolved the rep told me this session is over. I was told to call toyota customer service if i have any further questions.

I am not far from Muskoka - close to Parry Sound. Which dealership did you go to? I would certainly be getting another opinion on this - if it is the dealer in Huntsville, I have run into their one horse town take it or leave it attitude before. There must be some paperwork from Toyota that explains all procedures and costs involved in the frame replacement?

I'm sure you'll let us all know how it turns out. I may take mine to the stealership Saturday for inspection. If I do, I'll report back with results.

Kerry Toyota in Florence, Ky. It's been a good experience so far. Dropped it off after work, and by 1pm the next day they had called me to say the frame failed and the new had been ordered. The downfall of the experience came when they told me it would take 2 months for my frame to arrive. I'm about a month into the wait and called the other day. They said that there's no way to track where the frame is at and when it arrives they would call. Not a total bummer, but I've seen/heard of others getting there frames within weeks of their inspection. I won't knock them for that, it is what it is. I asked them if I could get aftermarket parts installed during the swap (OME lift), they said it would be fine and I wouldn't be charged for the labor. So all in all I'm a happy camper.

Cool. My closest dealer is Dry Ridge Toyota, I am willing to drive further for better service, but I'll start locally and go from there. I may at least have mine inspected Saturday and see how that goes.

A new frame it is! They found one more hole on the bottom of the frame. They said it is OK to drive as long as I don't do any heaving loading. I asked about the loaner car - was told something like a Corolla - I said that wouldn't work - I bought a truck for a reason. They will try for a RAV4. He didn't have a clue as to how long before the frame would be here. Here is the parts list as to what will be replaced.
