For those of you with an 05+ Tacoma and stock steel wheels, did you take your center caps off? I'm kind of liking the look with them off. What do you think?

the stock steelies look a lot better with the center caps on. Either one of mine fell off or somebody stole one so I had three wheels with center caps and one without and it bugged me so I just took all of them off and it looks a little weird. Keep em on!

I notice that the center caps on the steel wheels tend to fall off easily...

I have some stock steelies painted black with some studded Wintercat tires on and I didnt want to paint the plastic center caps so I left em off. I like it better that way.

I agree. I painted my stock steelies and like the look better with the center caps off. It's all preference. I kept mine on before they were painted.

Do the center caps actually do anything? I'm wondering because I purchased a very lightly used set of winter tires on stock steelies but they didn't come with center caps. Any issues with not running any in the winter (sand/salt/liquid "salt")?

Been fighting with my CCs for awhile. I have painted wheels, so I had to have painted CCs. They have been pretty bad about chipping up. Got fed up and just took them off and they'd been off a few weeks.

However...gave it one last shot with some Plasti-Derp. Find out what the craze is all about.

    Without CCs, looks alright.
With CCs, the trucks looks "complete"

The front hub already has a dust cap, so the center cap is truly redundant. The rear brake drum tends to get rusted, and the center cap hides it (it doesn't prevent rust, just hides it). IMO it's better to just paint the drum center with either a rattle can or touch up pen. I did neither :D

I lost (or one was stolen) one. I took the other three off, painted the center gray. I didn't want to buy a new one and have it come off again.
