I bought a 95 Taco few months back and have been replacing about everything I come across on it. I must say this site rocks with all the previous threads submitted to search on! As I have been replacing things I came across a few plugs/connectors under the hood that I have no idea what they are for. I also discovered that the PO must have removed a hose that ran along radiator to the original air box when he installed his hot air intake. I trashed it and installed an original air box and did the deck plate mod. There is some sort of vacuum that I know went to the hose along radiator and into some sort of canister between the charcoal canister and fuse box by battery (according to other threads photos). What is that secondary canister between and what is its purpose? Not sure I am going to replace it but just want to know what it is and if it is something that would help with my MPG, then I would replace!

There were also a couple plugs under the fuse box that are red and blue not connected to anything. Also a plug not connected to anything by the starter. Just curious what they are for, if I need them or are they there n the wiring harness for an Automatic trans or different engine?

    The truck is a 95 4x4 with 2.7 3RZ, manual trans

    Thanks

Your first pic of "Where do I go" runs to a hard tube running along the top of your radiator, then back to a soft hose to your charcoal/EVAP canister, which looks to be missing in your pic #2 and may be what those wire connectors plug into.

I'll post up a pic tonight of mine - it's a '97 and has a few other things under the hood but more or less the same.

Some more pics, not sure what this guy did. There is no CEL and it runs good. Just pulled the throttle body, cleaned the plugged up EGR VALVE, it's functioning as best I can tell by pulling the vacuum/sucking on tube and it responds by idling down until it dies. Guess I need to find a full vacuum chart that details more than the sticker under the hood.

Well, there goes my guess :) I have a 96 at home, weather sucks today but I'll check it if I can. My 2000 is different under the hood than the '95. I know where that hose goes on it, and it's to hardware I don't see in your picture.

I did an engine swap on the 96 a few months back, memory says there is a similar hose but no round charcoal filter on it but I'll know for sure later. If so I'd guess either there was a change between 95/96 or he swapped in non stock parts to make it work and what's left dangling has no-where to attach to.

Thanks for the response and comparison. The round canister that is mounted seems to be connected like it is original and according to the sticker under hood it all appears correct. It is 'dangling' because the bracket broke, if you look close in the picture there is a bracket with a hole where the PMW VSV mounts, its broken on the VSV by the phillips screw. Does your vacuum sticker routing under the hood resemble mine or does it match up with your 96? There could also be a chance that in 95, the air box did not have this hose from canister, routed along the radiator. I bought this air box aftermarket on ebay, not original. I capped it for now. I have searched but having a hard time finding a 95.5 pic or accurate info under hood of a 2.7 federal emissions. Think I will call dealer or run over and see if someone can take a look and show me the specifics on the 95.5 only, compared to the 96.

Sorry, got distracted this weekend and this is the first chance I have had to get back on.

Anyway, pics for you. The first two are the air tub running to the EVAP, which is not in your truck. The last two are those plug harnesses which connect to the EVAP.

My guess is they set it all up for the EVAP type charcoal can you see in Indy's and mine, but used that canister instead. That is what those loose plug wires are and what the tube out the side of the air box connects to.

Those brown and blue wiring connectors look like the connectors for the ADD vsv's. Do you have manual hubs? Might be pre wired for ADD. The air box you installed must be from a later model Tacoma. No code nust plug it.
