I agree. The Scangauge looks like something from the Dollar Store. [IMG] And cost twice as much.

I have no issues helping Justus out .

I use 4x4 low a lot . I am interested to know how hot the transmission gets without sufficient airflow going through the rad ? I am not mentioning towing because I wanted Tacoma owners to know that there are other reasons for your trans overheating . Towing is only one of them .
Dont wait for the idiot light on your dash to come on at 302 degrees . You have already cooked your fluid by then .

UG needs to be aware that we are all waiting to purchase a guage from them once they unlock their " M " guage feature .

A big thanks to justus for plowing the way on the transmission temperature testing .
You can support Justus by showing in a post that you will purchase an Ultraguage once the M guage reads transmission temps properly .

I beleive I may have posted earlier that I was interested but here it is again .

    Count on my purchase !!!!

Good morning, I currently have an ultragauge and I would like to know if you ever plan on having the unit read transmission temperature. This is really my only complaint about the unit aside from believing contacting customer service is really a pain in the rear. My ultragauge also has a cracked screen but isn't an issue that needs attention since I can still see the stuff I want to. I would like to deal with both at once if possible. I know I am not the only person to contact you about the transmission gauge. thank you

The OBDII standard describes certain parameters which can be accessed via the OBDII. Tranmission temperature is not one of them. Many of the parameters are left to the manufacturer’s discretion to support or not. This is why the gauges available through UltraGauge are vehicle dependent.
However, All Manufacturers provide themselves the ability to access additional vehicle parameters beyond those specified in the OBDII standard as well as those standardized OBDII parameters they chose not to make available.
We have developed a special version of UG, known ad the Ultragauge MX, which can access the manufacturer specific parameters, such as transmission temperature. However, access is only possible if the codes to access the parameter are known for your particular vehicle.

The UG MX is currently pulled from our site, as a new version is about to be released. We suspect that the MX will be posted by First of next week.
We currently do not offer an upgrade to the MX, though it is possible for any Ultragauge version 1.2 or greater.

    Regarding the screen:

I did not see you replied. there is a lot of interest in you guys on a Tacoma forum, named Tacoma world. The scangauge (your competition) has the ability to.
Mainly I wanted to help it be know there is a lot of interest in the ability to see how our transmissions are doing. I will evaluate my options on the upgrade/replacement of my ultragauge. I don't know what version I have or anything so I will look into all that

here is the thread if it matters.

    Chris,

The demand for the MX is very low. The UG EM outsells the MX 200 to 1.
It does not appear that there is much demand for transmission temperature.

However, there is a forum member that does have the new Ultragauge MX v1.3 and it is reading the trans temp on the Tacoma.

We do plan to place the MX back on our site. However, we are hoping to get more feedback from the various MX v1.3 users first.
