I live out here in so cal and just heard a story about dealers offering full size trucks at way under invoice or blue book because they are having such a hard time selling them. All due to gas prices of course. All you out their in the midwest or east coast have any blow out deals going on w/full sized trucks?.....I'm hoping that when the 2009 comes out I can get rid of my 2005 (paid off) and get into a 2009 for a good deal. Gas today at union 76 gas station was 401 for low grade and 421 for high! OUCH!

I drive by my local Toyota dealership every day. Last couple of weeks I've seen literally dozens of ginormous new Tundras lined up on the lot, and just a very few Tacos. And no Prius, zilch, nada, zippo, zap, bupkis!

Bet you can get some real sweet deals on big diesel Ford, Dodge or Chevys right about now!

Last evening when finalizing the paperwork on my new Tacoma, I was the only customer at this large dealership. I will be picking up my truck at 10AM today and will be curious if they have any customers today. On Saturday they better have, or this economy is in real trouble.

As the OP said rows and rows of Tundra's sitting on the lot. All with big cardboard "Banner Sales Event" crap sitting on them.

....and amidst this eerie breakdown happening in amost every aspect of our lives, believe me when I tell you it's all going according to plan in certain circles. And we're left to fight over the crumbs.

^What in THE HELL are you talking about? "OH NO! THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!" Please...

Tell that to Disney with their record attendance at their parks.Movie theaters, having one of their better years (Iron Man broke records). OR, this week in Myrtle Beach, Bike Week, which looks about as busy as ever. All of it discretionary spending which wouldn't be happening if the world were coming to an end.

And don't believe everything you see in the news. Things are nowhere as bad as they make it out to be (bad news is good news for them). Those of us that spend our money wisely know how to take advantage of market downturns. I just looked at an investment home this morning that I may put in a bid on.

Very simple- I'm simply expressing MY OPINION that the oil guys are gonna ride on the working guy's back 'till the oil guy is out of office. Why the attitude? I've been nothing but NICE to EVERYONE I post to on this forum, Pierce, including you. Did I do something to you?

When you follow a flaming post like Wilson's And coin key words from that post AND answer for him- I'm sure you can see where a guy would think you were taking sides, no? ......................and in response to Wilson- I too am quite wise with the money...one reason I keep a 7 year old Tacoma top-notch. I'm not gonna take a catswat at you and then in the same breath sit there and brag how rich I am like you did. Suffice it to say that this forum you share, holds a lot of people who are gonna hurt under the friggin GREED the assholes RUNNING this game are bestowing as they hurry and button up their own interests before they bounce!

People are so damn sensitive on this website. I don't know why we cannot just express our opinions w/out others getting all upset? Now I can see getting upset if a rude or demeaning comment is directed towards someone, but if you are just venting or giving your opinion for others to read just let it go. Life's to short to get upset about odd or strange comments!....Life's a trip!~Enjoy the ride!

Today I went to the dealership and noticed this used 2006 double cab trd sr5 v6 on the lot. It has 25,000 miles on it. The truck is fully loaded. Very clean, tinted windows, running boards, bed mat, seat covers,6n disc changer, tow pkg,etc...all the bells and whistles!...They were asking 20,000.00 for it. The guy on the lot said they have had it for 4 months now and just cannot seem to sell it. He said allot of buyers are looking for 4cyl trucks. He said that the previous owner of that truck traded it in for a 4cyl....Gas is now what? 125.00 a barrel now!...I still have my 2000 prerunner 4cyl. If gas gets over 5.00 a gallon, I may just sell my v6 and go back to the 4cyl even know I said that I would never go back to a 4cyl!

Has anyone heard any rumblings of Toyota building hybrid trucks down the line?....I know they would be more money and I think someone mentioned to me that when buying a hybrid after owning it 7yrs it will have paid for itself gas wise!....Crazy!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Hey Surf-first let me apologize for helping derail your thread here. I should have used plainer speak in my first post here instead of being so "prophetic".....probably would've saved some trouble. Second, you'r revealing a sad state of affairs in your thread about how fuel pricing is killing the car biz. Not much is being said in the news about the fact that for the first time in American history GM is stopping all production of their truck line! If THAT isn't an economic indicator that causes a WTF?! I'm just saying it's only the beginning. Not 'the world is gonna end'...and look at Morrison's post about Dodge-think it's gonna stop here? Great thread man:)

It wouldn't matter if they were offering that truck for $12K, I would have still bought my Tacoma for 17K. How many people out there actually need a vehicle that big?

+1, one of the main reason i got the tacoma, was its size, people told me i could get a bigger truck for the buck, but with bigger trucks comes more expenses....
