Guys here's a rough draft spreadsheet for a pool if anyone would be interested. Look at it and suggest anything. I've never done one of these so it's purely pulled outta my rear. Kinda figured I'd make picking the race winner and who advances more lucrative the deeper we go in the Chase. Tiebreaker would be whoever guesses the polesitter's top qualifying speed without going over? Or is that a little too hard?

Too complicated for me. I like the simple pools.
Chase Race elimination: Who guesses the most correct members that are still going to be in the chase each round, before the next race begins.

In this pool you would pick, before the chase begins it's first race, what 12 drivers you think will remain when the first elimination is made. After the first elimination to 12, before the next race, you pick which 8 drivers will make it past the NEXT elimination round, and so on.

That's essentially what that pool is isn't it? The only difference is I added "emphasis on winning". Hypothetically, I could pick a race winner and leapfrog someone who might've selected 1 more correct driver to advance than me. Maybe narrow the gap between the points of picking a race winner and picking the correct driver to advance. But that points system is modeled after the NCCA tourney system.

What would we do if more than one person selected the final 4 drivers to make it to homestead and the champion? Would it be simple elimination after each round? If you integrate a points system, you could have a bad first round but make a comeback and select more correctly towards Homestead.

Don't apologize, I wasn't trying to push my idea on you, just more explaining the thought process I had going on.

I think Nascar makes it more complicated then it needs to be. It's complicated for the person or persons figuring this out after each race. I know this new format makes it more exciting to watch, but so much for the most consistant driver winning the Championship.

I'm game for whatever format you come up with. We should have money involed, even if it's not a lot? Everyone throw in 20 before the chase starts and the winner gets the pot. The losers send a check or Payal to the winner at the end?

I'm game for having a purse for the winner. I do agree, I like things back when they were simpler but NASCAR wants to add some drama into it which I want to see.

Y'all feel free to throw in any more suggestions on how the pool should go. What about the points system of the pool? I can make it simpler if that's what y'all want to do. I tried to make it basic, and add emphasis on winning and correctly guessing the drivers the deeper you get into the Chase. I can shrink the gap between the race winner points and the driver advancement points in the Eliminator round if ya want. Heck, I'm open for anything. Just let me know.

The rules can be you have to have your picks submitted before qualifying that weekend.

I think if we make it a win-per-round it would draw more interest. I mean if you put in $20 at the beginning, and you end up with the losing pick, what is the incentive to stay with the rest of the group playing? Thinking make it $5 per elimination round, with a $10 buy-in for the final 4. That way depending on how lucky people get, we will have 4 possible winners during the entire chase, rather than one big one.

Either way I think there will be multiple winners with the pot split. I say this because multiple people are going to pick the same driver to win. Hopefully we can get at least 10 minimum to participate.

I'm sure we can decide on something. Technically, two or more of us could pick the exact same guys to advance throughout the rounds and the same champ. If we do a cumulative points system, with extra points for correctly picking a winner, we can have a clear pool winner. This way, you can make up ground in the later rounds of the tournament.

Ya'll figure that stuff out and let me know. I'm in if it isn't too much to buy in.

Ugh. Me and my sister BOTH don't really care for him. Oh well. I had hoped someone new would have won so that we would have someone else in.
