Chevrolet has always, and always will be, absolute pieces of trash. Same old adage...the prettier they are, the shittier they are

The Colorado's online configurator is up: http://www.chevrolet.com/colorado-small-truck/build-your-own.html Some interesting bits:
    • Tow package ($250) is just a hitch receiver and wiring. There's no upgraded tranny cooler. Tow package also requires the V6 and the G80 LSD.
    • 18" wheels are $3000 if you want them.
    • Fender flares are a $370 option.
    • The bed utility rail/hook/bar system require a lot of optional parts ($100-$300) to work effectively.
    • Spray-in bedliner is $400.
    • Navigation only available with Bose stereo, so effectively a $1000 pkg.

Configured to a rough equivalent of my truck (access cab 4x4 auto with Z71 package and the options) works out to $35,475 incl freight.

Have a look at the global Colorado issues to have an idea of what to expect for reliability: http://www.4wdaction.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=120&t=141477

Everything will have it's teething issues, but the pricing is exactly what I suspected would come from GM. There base price is great, but if you want a truck with what I'd consider "standard" options you better get the Z71 and then it's money money money.

^Yep, and not a surprise either - the previous-gen Colorado wasn't that good of a deal compared to the Taco.

Old Toyota's, Power Wagon, and a Tacoma
Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
I have been thinking of buying the diesel canyon when it comes out.. or colorado.. Toyota gets worse every year, i am a die hard Toyota fan but i am not blind. The 2014 corolla s is the slowest thing in the road. So far i love mine as a Family car, nice comfortable interior and good MPG but they are out specced the day the rolled off the line. Cheaper cars with better mpg faster and all that. For now Toyota legacy is holding on, but every day since 1995.5 the toyota pickup has gone down in quality. My Tacoma is a headache.. I love the truck but it is a 2013, its on its 3rd battery.. Toyota says there is nothing wrong with it.. it gets horrid gas mileage. . Which i gave into because i wanted the 6spd. The 6spd is the noisiest transmission of anything I own. Mine shifts fine and has worked for 26k but it sounds like death with gear mesh and chatter box noisily clattering around like its got no fluid.. I do not want a GM but unless toyita takes a hit the won't pull thier head out of thier ass. I am in Afghanistan and the Hilux with manual and D4D is leagues better. If the GM product does well we can hope for the Toyota diesel option in the future. After the power steering went out on my 2013 Tacoma and it stranded me the last time with a dead battery.. It got sidelined.. I DRIVE MY 1985 TOYOTA PICKUP WITH 270K BECAUSE ITS MORE LIKELY TO KEEP ME GOING THAT MY 2013 TACOMA!!!!!! WTF!!?? It is such a love hate relationship. . Also, if you buy the truck to be a truck. It doesnt hold value for shit. Look up a 2013 Access cab trd offroad tacoma with 6spd, and every available option. One year old, 32000 new and 22000 now.

The value is if you buy the same cookie cutter poser truck as every other guy in the US.. double cab auto and depending on the region prerunner too. They hold thier value great.. because the majority of the are like jeeps now.. expensive street queens.

It isn't a totally different truck, despite GM sales & marketing's best attempts to make it appear so. The diesel coming in 2016 is basically the "Duramax2" engine in the global Colorado, but with more emissions equipment tacked on. (Of course, GM doesn't dare to use the "Duramax2" name here, lest it make the Silverado engine appear outdated.)

You may want to do some research.....

You are a little behind on this thread

This time Colorado owners will get to blow a motor with 6 cylinders every 100 K.

I had to get my dig in because I had one. Consuming 4L between oil changes was "normal". Which meant you never had to actually change your oil because it was always fresh, so I had that going for me, which is nice.

Never buy a Gm vehicle on princible.Refused to upgrade a .52 cent part and people died because of it.Then they lied and tried to bury it.Screw Govt motors.Rather push a Ford.

The 3.6L LFX V6 is probably the least risky element in the new truck, since it's been used for a couple of years in other applications (Camaro, Equinox, Impala).

Speaking of which - the Equinox AWD with the 6-speed auto is EPA rated for 16 city / 23 hwy. Actual figures reported by magazines are in the 18 mpg range. We may see similar disparities with the Colorado.

I know, but I've never had a gm engine last over about 150 k Km's. That works out to around 100 k miles. Plus that 3.6 L is going to be tuned differently and expected to put up with loads surpassing 10,000 lbs (truck+trailer) so the reliability is not certain at all. Will it throw rods or random parts? Probably not. Could it grenade from the tougher duty cycle? Possibly.

At the end of the day, I was just joshing around buddy. Your guess is probably as good as mine on how good the Colorado will hold up.

Feel free to go buy one, you'll be back. I almost got caught up in the price of them when I had my landscaping company. Thankfully I didn't. The company I work for now owns a couple of them. Our flat bed spends more time hauling them to the mechanic than it does delivering our product to our client. You get what you pay for. I can also get a Kia pretty cheap.

I know, but it's so much fun. :D. Checking out this thread and not posting, is like trying to drive past a wreck and not look. It's just too tough.
