Honestly, your images have been awesome this year. You seen to be doing fine with the equipment you have. I wouldn't worry too much about it. In time you will be able to afford better stuff.

Thanks. Some of it has to be the monitor calibration but I also think that some of it is taking full advantage of the tools in elements. I know you guys are using newer versions of abode stuff but elements 7 seems to be holding its own right now.

 

Yea I mean sure I'm sure the monitor helps. But you'd think seeing your stuff on my monitor and my own stuff would make me see how it should look and do that on my own monitor.

Probably more user and tools I'm sure as you said.

Color calibration is one of the most complex (and cofusing) topics there is.

WYSIWYG can be so deceiving. When you are working in an Adobe editor, it assumes that what you are seeing is calibrated. The Adobe editors are, within their programming but it cannot control how the monitor displays. The editor cannot control how the video card interprets the color data.

The only way to know for sure is correctly displaying the color values is a hardware device that measures that info and compensates by putting a ".icm" file between the video card on the monitor.

Another factor is the web browser and the web page. TW and Flickr use color management for how they display images but some websites and web browsers do not.

All of these things effect what you see.
