    Heck ya it is. I have a vehicle mounted Ham with roof antenna and unfortunately wasn't able to use since I haven't modded it yet to TX on the channel we used. So Andre let me borrow this radio and it surprised me. Distance was 'almost' as far as my base unit, battery lasted over 12 hours straight and was still over 50% and it was loud and clear. I know ill be picking one up to be able to use as a mobile unit now too. $35 compared to the almost $500 I spent on mine. No brainer right there
