I don't remember ever hearing about a taco bursting into flames because the engine overheats at idle. Can't we ban this guy?

Right now we're all smarter because he's here. If we ban him, we'll all fall a rung down the stupidity ladder. I say we keep him... if for no other reason than to make fun of him.

Dude, I own a GM and a Tacoma. The last thing I would ever do is buy a first year model of any GM product. We waited a few years for the GMC Acadia to be out thinking we were safe, I can't tell you how many recalls I have been at the dealer for. Honestly, go buy the Chevy, maybe I will see you at the dealer getting work done.

The only good thing thatll come from this colorado is a better taco.

No one can argue that it wouldnt be sweet to have the power and MPG of a colorado in your taco. I mean come on 305HP and 26MPG is awesome. But ill never buy another chev... they're shit.

I will argue. Check out the actual specs for a 4WD crew cab Colorado. It's not even close to 26MPG, or any better than our Tacomas. OP is just trolling this thread.

I hate myself for posting on this thread. but when you have to argue somehting you just gotta argue it.

i dont care so much about the mpg but i really need the 305hp. that would make the difference for me of using my truck to pull my enclosed snowmobile trailer out to the mtns (1000 miles thru the windy Dakotas) and not being able to. Seriously considering a supercharger for this.... but then you have to ask yourself.. what if i supercharged a colorado and made it into 360hp???

I've pulled my 5k pound travel trailer w/ 4 people over two of the highest passes in the lower 48. You'll be fine unless you're pulling more weight than that.

Did you pull that big ass trailer for a long run?

my trailer loaded is only like 3-3500lb, but its tall and catches wind so bad it makes me wish i got a shorter trailer. The Dakotas especially, a constant 30MPH crosswind. My brother's 05 F150 could barely do it, which has 300HP. we literally got 6mpg, and sometimes struggled to maintain speed (60mph). Dont wanna do it again, not sure the truck could even handle it.

Id pull anything for a short amount of time, but not for 1000 miles in the middle of nowhere.

Unless 3 of the 4 people were kids, you were probably over your payload capacity.

The colorado engine makes 277 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. the 1gr in the taco makes 266 lb-ft of torque at 4,000rpm. The place you will notice a difference with the colorado is when you are revving the piss out of it. I promise you that it will not feel any more powerful under 4500rpm. It's the new shtick that car manufacturers are doing in these horsepower wars - more power at higher RPM, but if you drive your car normally (not flooring it to redline everywhere), you will never notice the difference. I doubt you will be revving the truck at 7,000 rpm pulling a trailer!

Pulled it from Denver to Grand Junction (not as long a run as yours but around 300 miles, one way). Averaged 11.5 mpg for the trip. Truck maintained 45mph over the passes, other than that I maintained 60-65 with little trouble.

Went to Mount Rushmore a month ago. Going through Wyoming and South Dakota maintained 65 with no trouble.

Don't get me wrong, if I were making long trips all the time, I would definitely look into a more capable rig.

Nope, all 4 were adults. I'm sure we were pretty close but loaded up we were around 600 pounds plus another 600 tongue weight.

Good to know. That's by beef with bigger trucks, yes i could def use the extra power like a few times a month, but to me that doesnt warrant having to suffer shitty MPG and spending more $$ on a bigger diesel truck. I get by when i need to, and get awesome MPG when i dont pull stuff. Win Win.
