Shocks...

Okay.. question about shocks... I have a SR5 Prerunner double cab... I'm thinking about upgrading my shocks to something more car like.. so my taco will ride a little more smoother...
Does anyone have any sugestions as to what I need to go with? And how much this is going to set me back? Just thought I would ask all my friends here at taco world..

My truck is identical to yours. I purchased mine FOR the offroad suspension and stiffer ride. Not sure if a softer strut is available for this model truck, but my coworker has an 03 model and when he phoned for shocks/struts they had two types available, the cheaper of the two supposedly offered a softer ride. Perhaps you can phone some local suppliers for options on your truck. Pepboys, autozone, etc. Think my coworker received this quote from Desert Rat. They're online. Good luck!

my brother had a 4 runner and we spent the money and bought the most expesive shocks napa auto had they gauranteed a great ride and they did make it better for him i am thinking i will do the same for my truck though they where like 75 a piece

 

After reading some other posts I think maybe my tires are inflated to much... think I'll let some air out and see if that helps me... I'll check it and let ya know..

 

my truck calls for 29 psi andwhen i put that in it i spin the tires to easy and have bad traction during the rain though it is a smoother ride i prefer better handling my tires are inflated to 45 i just plan to change the shocks when they get oder for the good expensive ones besides the ones i hve now are sqeeking a little its annoying when i load stuff ito the truck

 

If you have to put in 45psi in your tires to keep them from spinning, then get off the gas or replace those crappy tires. You will wear them out in no time. By the way, if you have the money then get OME Comfort shocks.

 

get off the gas thats funny when i do that my wife looks at me and ask is something wrong i like to make my truck move and with al the mororns that drive 10 under the speed limit you need the power to squeeze between them so you might actually get home before tomorrow i cant remember what kinda tires are on my truck but the tires stick to the road really good the truck calls for 29psi when i got a nail in my tire my mechanic started putting air in my tire and the whole truck lifted i was like dam what you doing he explained the tires max is 51 the need the air for milage and handling

i wish i could remember that was 3 years ago and allot happened since the storm out here in nawlins but i beilieve that was the name on them and i know he does remember cause i was his mechanic he didnt know anything about cars just remember dont skimp when buying shocks the more you pay the better the ride
