I have rollers but hawse fairlead is recommended for synthetic line. And I just ordered a prolink. I did get a set of the rubber rollers from another member but when I received them they were pretty well used.

    Meh..

Honestly, the rollers are better in my opinion, but truly - for this application and it's forecasted usage, the hawse will be just fine if you choose to go that route.

The whole delrin/Hawse/roller thing is a big marketing ploy in my opinion.. The engineers at Samson tend to agree as well. The bigger the surface area, least amount of rotational resistance etc. A soft aluminum fairlead has the propensity to get nicked, causing a burr - leading to rope failure. A roller, be it delrin, stainless, galvi, UHMW - whatever - as long as it's not scratched from prior usage with wire rope - should be perfectly fine.

In the end, I'm not moving any 100 ton vessels with my winch. Do what you feel looks and will function the best for you.

From talking with Bill Burke, he said that Hawse leads are worse because you are dragging the line over the fairlead, creating friction - it's possibly a very small issue, but still obviously not better than a roller. The big sales tactic is that "rollers can pinch the line in the corner, which is bad for synthetic." Well, it isn't good for steel line, either, and you should be re-rigging if you are experiencing those sorts of angles.
Once you buy a winch, the manufacturers need to find a way to generate additional sales, which is why delrin rollers, hawse leads, synthetic line, and decent hooks have all been up-sells.

I only suggest delrin because the ones Ben got were inexpensive, and the black rollers were better looking  I was surprised, because I've seen some expensive delrin setups.

I think I must agree... I have had steel rollers on this whole time since I bought the non-synthetic M8000. I bought the Daystar roller replacements from a TW member thinking they would be usable but they were gouged and cut short. It seemed almost worse then the steel so I didn't replace them. Then I was thinking, I am getting a Prolink, might as well pick up a hawse (since I found a good deal on it). Then I find out that doesn't work either. Now the two resolutions I had to the steel rollers are just sitting on my shelf. I just feel like there has to be a better solution.

This whole situation gives me an idea though. It might be a little pricey but I am going to see if my local fab shop can make me a prototype.

As usual I have to work on Fridays but any Saturday or Sunday works well. I need to install the US Offroad winch mount bumper and a Warn 8000.

Guess I'll post this here as some of you guys are Washington guys, I read the rcw concerning third brakelights and it wasn't really clear in if I had to have one or not. So do I have to have to have one?

I have to work that Saturday, this weekend is fairly open though for me
