how many 6 speeds out there

I usually lurk in the 1st gen forum, just looking to see if someone can point me in the right direction here. How many 6 speed manual 2nd gens were made? Anyone have production numbers by year? single, extra, dc numbers would help tons if possible. Sure its been covered, but my feeble search attempt came up empty.

 

Depending on how accurate you need the number you could just go to wikipedia and total all the Tacoma sales and try to find the percent of manuals sold vs automatics across the us for all vehicles maybe

I love useless information as well but just curious what type of project you are working on that sparks your need for such figures? Just curious.

The sales manager where I bought my 6-speed Tacoma told me that in the upper midwest, maybe 1 in 200-300 new Tacomas entering that region from the factory had a manual transmission.

 

they seem somewhat common in MA

 

Toyota told me less than 10% of Tacomas are 6-speeds!

 

I believe it - this is why I had to special order mine. NO manuals on the lot or in stock with area dealers.

 

In Pittsburgh; i was told roughly .5% shipped to the area were Manual. I bought the only 6sp double cab sitting on a lot within 200 miles of my house.

 

In 2009 bought mine in Charlotte, NC - 620 miles from Memphis. Only other AC SR5 PreRunner I could find was in Arizona.

 

Almost same here, all they could get was a Barcelona red because I wouldn't buy without test driving. To get the color I wanted (mgm or black) I had to order.

Hey they had the best color for you. I had to wait a few weeks for mine in Oregon as well.

When I ordered mine I got the feeling there were more 6 speeds than the sales guy was leading on about. About a month before I purchased the dealer had about 10 manuals, they were all gone when I went to buy. But the sales guy said we rarely get any. I mentioned how they had about 10 a month prior. Just seemed like he was trying to sell what they had at the time (autos).

 

I'm with this guy, when I got mine the hardest part was locating the color I wanted, Timberland Mica. They're were a couple MT's on the lot at the time but I didn't want white, Mag, or Silver. The silver was a long bed 4door which I guess is the rare of the rare for MT's.

 

I'm no help with the numbers you are looking for, but when I was looking in CT 3 weeks ago there were only 4 actually on the ground within about 400 miles. One of those is now mine.
