i've got the icons and compared to the stock ride i like them a lot better. they firm it up so when u hit a pothole or a speed bump it doesn't take the car 4 bounces to recover. i roll over them and it doesn't take any time to recover.
it took a little getting used to, but handling is much better. and mine were set at 3" of lift. backed them off to 2.75 to level the truck out and they stayed the same.

Spacers are known to give a horrible ride. The Icons will give you a better ride on and off road. Do not mix the two. If i were you, i would just forget about the spacers, do not even think about them. You have the Icons, so install them and just crank them up as high as you can with the Tc ucas and enjoy. Forget about the spacers!!!!! They are garbage.

I am shocked at how many people say spacers are a crappy ride.. Only if the spacer is between the actual spring & c/o does it effect the preload and harsh up the ride.. But if the spacers are like the ones I have, sitting on top of the entire c/o if does not effect it one bit..
I know it can be done as I used to own a custom shop and built suspensions-question was if anyone has done it w/ this particular setup..

It can be done, BUT, doing so will damage other components. Maybe with a small spacer (1" or less) things wont get damaged as quickly, but a 3" top plate spacer will damage things. You have installed these before, while I have had to replace them after things break.

Whats happening is, You are lengthening the shock to a length much longer than what the suspension was designed for. Most times, the lower part of the shock snaps. Being as the lower part of the shocks on the second gens are narrow/thin, thats the spot that breaks.

That wasnt my truck, but the ones I have seen break stuff, have all been top plate spacers.

good to know.. thx for the info..
being the daring individual and having the burly icon c/o im unsure if I want to try it as i dont think that monstrosity would break.. and Im thinking only other load now would be at the uca which I am using a Total Chaos, but the upper uniball will be maxed out..
I will speak w/ Icon as they are 15min from me..

I would do one of two things. Get rid of the tires that don't fit in the first place, and buy some that will allow you to achieve some good articulation, or.. Get a pair of TC or Camburg spindles and leave the C/Os set at no lift. This will net you around 3.5 to 4 inches of lift and will ride like a dream.

The spacer lift stacked on your ICONS is a terrible idea if I've ever heard one.

ok well i finally got it installed and ended up going w/ the icon 2.5's w/ a 1" billet spacer and cranked the c/o up roughly 2".. Rides perfect!!! I went to Icon facility and spoke w/ jeremy.. They helped me out dramatically and are a great bunch of guys.. I used to own Las Vegas Customs and have built many of vehicles- I will be installing the Engage LT kit soon.. will post pics when completed.. Thanks to all for all your feedback and help..

Is that a 1" thick block or a 1/2" block giving you 1" of lift?

I was thinking of using a 1/4" top plate spacer when I get coilovers, since I already have them but don't think it's even worth the little bit of extra plushness, to later find out my $1,400 coilovers broke due to it being there.

I still don't think a 1/4" spacer would hurt anything but 1" not sure about that. Hope it works out for ya.

So why did you bother installing icons if youre going LT "soon"?

just wondering.... maybe you have more money to play around with than i do.
