Any woodworkers?

6 all together 4 will be for sale. Timewise they go pretty quick longest spent on any of them is the first glue up and belt sanding them.

 

I made a clamp rack to hold my clamps (previously lying around taking up space in corners, floor,..)

I wanted it to be strong, ...joinery is pegged stub tenons, and the center board/rail is half-lap dovetail and a pegged stub tenon (each side) to the side pieces...


I peg the tenons w/ some contrasting oak dowels...

Hey there, it's been a while since I've built anything out of wood, from scratch! I'm in the middle of building an armrest/utility box for my RC taco. I designed it, & built a cardboard mock-up, but I have no idea what kind of wood I should use to actually build it. Any suggestions on any good durable hard woods? I have a lot of accent pieces, but not enough consistency. Thanks for any input!

Seriously though, I don't know shit about wood. The last & only usable thing I built was a pine bread box in wood shop class, 1990. I bought a bunch of tools and misc., from some guy on CL clearing out his art studio & he gave me a bunch of wood scraps. I know how to woodwork, but have no knowledge of what types to use. :}

 

As to what type of wood to use? In your case it would be personal preference. Mabye match the interior or do a contrasting color. Wood is not going to be comfortable to rest your arm on on long rides.

well done! I don't recall us building anything that complex in shop class, ..I think we made simple wall clocks in animal silhouettes

...one of the more interesting things I've been learning about are the interesting mechanical and hygroscopic properties of wood... all very important to making lasting quality products...

 

...for durability, it's hard to beat maple, ..oak, ...those are generally readily available at least in my part of the country,... not sure what your design and dimension are, ..i'd imagine having panels of birdseye maple would be pretty sweet looking

not sure what kind of hard wood selection y'all have in the NW though...
