Oh yea, good morning. Anyway, It can be argued both ways. How often do people air out their house like a car. Open all the doors/windows. Central air just recycles the inside air so does crap in your house ever really get out? According to here only idiots/stupid people smoke so you know they aren't driving a new super air tight car. A window is always cracked and all the doors are opened when everyone gets out. Can't get a house that open to air out.

    Maybe I should drink coffee...

    If the shoe fits...

Well hell, lets just legistate everything while we are at it. Should you smoke with a kid in your car....no but why should this be a law. Maybe we should make rock stars and red bulls illegal because they are bad for you. Bet the Cali guys would love that. Here is an idea. LIVE YOUR OWN LIFE, WIPE YOUR OWN ASS and stop asking the goverment to police everything.

Comparing obeying a law not to smoke in your car when there's a kid in it with the pathetic attempt to justify the actions and inactions that led to the slaughter of approximately 6 million people...

I'd say that shoe's the wrong size, for the wrong foot, for the wrong gender.
    Maybe even the wrong species.

And the Straw Man makes yet another appearance...

I hate big government, and want to be left alone like the next guy. Unfortunately kids can't choose to be subjected to it or not. Also unfortunately the parents couldn't give a shit, and do it.

Maybe we need a militia to go around to protect kids from Asshole parents. :notsure: Hmmmm why is it illegal to beat a kid? I should be allowed to shake my baby if I choose, right?

Everything you just said is illegal can be proven in court with physical evidence. This law would work on the notion of what might happen. No evidence of actual damage to an individual victim. Do you really want to go down that road? Guilty for possibly being able to cause harm to someone else?

what else should we make illegal then. what other stuff should we ask the goverment to fix for us. Where does this stop and personal accountability take hold. America is not going to be free for long if we legistate everythiong; or if we create the atmostsphere that every can be solved with legislation. This is pathetic

IMO there should be a law banning some people from having kids. I've seen way too many bad parents in my area, smoking and otherwise. Just last week there was a guy who left his kids in the car when it was 90 out, WTF. I want to slap people when I see their kids breathing in second hand smoke. Rant over

    this...

and we also need to ban all forms of booze, salt, butter, cream, saturated fat, genetically modified food, fast food, soda, corn, and anything else bad for you....of course anything without moderation is unsafe (even water) so we should all just get hooked up to feeding tubes and have someone put our minds into the matrix. Now that would be freedom!!!

Morning! Yes, I do get your idea behind a house being dangerous with the air systems. I really do. The main point I was getting at is the the CONCENTRATION of second hand smoke is disproportionate between a house, and the confines of a car. And just to make it clear, I am not saying that smokers are dumb, stupid, ignorant, or any other insulting word. I WILL however say that the majority of the smokers I have been DIRECTLY IN CONTACT with, (I am saying this because I know I have not interacted with every smoker in the world) tend to caring more about their smoking habit, than of the people around them. I just consider it common courtesy that if you smoke, be considerate of those that do not.

When compared to the discussion of smoking, your suggestion here is comparing apples to oranges. I don't walk around shoving alcohol down your throat, or force-feed you fast food, saturated fat, or anything else. If I choose to eat or drink whatever, that is my choice, and my eating this does not DIRECTLY affect you. But if you get into a car with someone else and light up a cigarette, you are DIRECTLY affecting others. Apples and oranges man.

No one is forcing 2nd hand smoke down you, you're the one sucking it in. :p

Same thing to me....invasion of my privacy and my rights while bloating the gubment and having them tell us everything we can/can't do.

You want to tell people what they can/can't do behind closed doors of cars and houses if I'm reading this right....

and all of that DOES directly affect me as I already pay over 20k a year in taxes to support the poor who can't afford healthcare and other things.

    Yes. Somewhere around November 1st.

I said nothing of the sort. What I said was that in my opinion people who smoke should be considerate of others since it has been PROVEN that second hand smoke is dangerous to others. I further said that I agree with a law supporting not smoking in cars WHEN THERE ARE CHILDREN inside them, because of the danger to their developing lungs. You want to smoke in your house? Fine, go for it. I will consider you an inconsiderate person if you do it around children. You want to smoke in your car? Fine, go for it, as long as there are no children inside the car with you, if there is a law in your state prohibiting it. And again, law or not, I would say that a smoker who smokes in a car with children is an inconsiderate ass.

What I AM telling smokers is that they should show some consideration for others since it has been a proven fact that their habits are directly harmful to others.

So is it safe to infer you want big brother to make a law stating you can't smoke in your car with kids, but doing the same in your home is a-OK?

I just want to get this right here...
