So, I just picked up my new Tacoma Off Road DC SB on Friday last week. It was dark when I got it, and I didn't think to check to make sure the aluminum skid plate which I thought is supposed to be included was there or not. So, I get home and find that it's not there. So I'm wondering if I missed something, i.e. maybe it's an option, etc... I check the window sticker for included equipment and it says "engine skid plate" as part of the included Off Road extra value package. I go on the Toyota website and "build your own Tacoma" tool... when I click the Off Road package option, you can see it clearly adds that aluminum skid plate to the truck, so I call my dealer saying WTF, where is mine?

After three days they get back to me and say that the aluminum plate is an option not included in the Off Road extra value package. That all I get is the thin black sheet metal that's under there right now (which I thought comes on any version of the truck). Is this true, or are they blowing smoke? I still don't understand why the tool on the website clearly shows the aluminum skid plate when you select the Off Road package. Am I missing something? Is the dealer right? Please help!

Call the 800 toyota line, that usually gets the dealer fullfilling their obligations to the customer.

My dealer did the same thing to me!! i went to the parts department with the sticker in hand and told them that EVERY TRD OR that i have ever seen has one of these, why doesnt mine. the parts guy looked up the part and sure enough it was suposed to be there. the said it was a "misbuild". Go to the parts guys, they are way more knowledgeable then the sales guys about things like this

I think the stock Skid is black. I think the TRD one is aluminum and that one doesn't come with the OR package.

Just checking on the Toyota website, and if you pick the TRD Off Road package, it definitely pops the big aluminum skid plate on in the preview pic. Also, buying the skid plate separately does not show up as an option. With my dealer dicking me around, what do you guys think is my best recourse? I want what I paid for!

I got mine as part of the package, just go talk to the parts guys and thell them every TRD OR you see has one and yours does not. take the sticker in and show them the front engine skid plate listed there and tell them you want it. if they give you any trouble take them down to a non TRD OR and prove that it is not on the others.

well im pretty sure that i have seen posts before on here of american truck owners saying that it is aftermarket as well. plus you dont really want it for any type of off roading its only good for looks, they get beat up and bent really fast.

that is true that they bend easily, one good rock and you have a crease in it, better that than anything else though. if you cant get it free like i did, and you are gonna go off-roading, get a good solid aftermarket one.
