Cant carry a gun at work and actually do use it at work. Made my wife a smaller one to use when she runs since she runs about 6 miles at 5 am every morning. We live in a nice neighborhood but better safe than sorry.

I don't own a pistol right now but have my CWP. My daughter is 9 and even though she is aware of firearm safety and I'm taking her to the range I just don't trust a pistol in the house. That is a personal decision of mine and as she gets older she will learn more. I grew up around weapons and love them but the thought of my daughter picking up a pistol and something happening would be too much to bare. A locked pistol is the same as no pistol.

I don't expect to have a lot of agreement with my decision and I understand. But.... If someone breaks in my house they will regret it with the other weapons I've got.

Almost all kids like to go through their parent's stuff when home alone. The key is education. You can't leave them wondering what it's like to hold a gun, fire a gun, etc; if you know that they are already curious and you own one. No matter how you secure it, they will find a way to get to it if they really want to.

It has to be done responsibly. Just like teaching them how to drive, you don't put a teenager in a powerful high performance vehicle to do so. In the same vein, don't simply hand your 85lb precious snowflake a fully automatic weapon. Respect.

They are tools and nothing more. Without talking monkeys around to use them, guns would simply sit there and do nothing. So do what we were evolved to do and TALK to the kids.

my dad always had 1 gun and 1 gun only out. that was the one he carried for work. i was always told not to touch it. if dad was gone 99% of the time the gun was as well. i remember when i was younger it was in the closet than just hanging on the bed post. I don’t think i could have got it out if i wanted to. it was in a holster on a belt and it did not pull straight out.

I would be willing to wager that you grew up in the era where misbehavior earned you a Whuppin'®. Nowadays it earns you meds and a smarmy counselor.

I thought about getting this on the back of my truck.. it will have to do until I can actually afford the gun haha.

As for good weapons, just kill them with kindness! It will turn any harsh thug away.

    Harsh Thug: "EHYOBITCH GIMMEALLYALLMONEY!"
You: "Kind sir, I am oh so certain that such a gentle soul such as yourself wouldnt be pleased in doing me any harm. You have such a sweet face and your breath smells like sweet lavender with a hint of love. I would like to invite you into a realm of care giving and tenderness"
Harsh Thug: *tear* I have longed for the passion of flowing soft and delicate words to be spoken to me. If only you had been there before my life hath gone sour. Please forgive me?"

And just like that, you have your own personal thug. (Like a tomagachi pet) to nurish, love, and protect under your sweet wing. Works like a charm.

HAHAHA no way! My brother and I did that all the time. Two pairs of pants and a paper back book, we would scream before he hit us, then run out of the room fake crying. I think when he found out he found humor from it because I didnt get punished any worse for it. Clever. Now kids cry at the sight of pain. LilB*tches.

Just noticed this reply, sorry for not responding earlier.

I agree with you 100% about situational awareness. Doing that well is far more critical than what you carry. You can't out-run a bullet and nobody is quicker than a trigger finger. If they have the drop on you, you have no choice but to stay calm and don't make sudden moves. A high point to the head trumps a Mk.23 in the center console.

    This x1000

When I was a kid I went into my parents closet looking for presents and found a gun I didn't even know my parents had. I didn't touch it or anything and I'm pretty sure it didn't even have ammo for it in the house but still.

That was before we all had our licenses and now we have a ton of guns either locked in the safe or being used out in the bush or the range.

So stupid question here but if you lost your CHL? license are you still allowed to have the hand gun in the car with you?

Are you just not allowed to conceal carry?
