Unsubbed. Somebody left the door to the Derp cage unlocked and they got out. And they're crapping everywhere.

No. The first murder was a caveman who killed another caveman for bitching about his campfire smoke.

While California has the law, it's probably not ticketed much. It's not a stoppable offense (they won't pull you over if they see you smoking with a kid in the car). It has to be in connection with some other violation.

Yup yup, I opted to not read all the previous 207 post in the thread prior to posting my opionion due to my limited time on the site now days.

I agree with you on the smoking in other confined space. I've referb'ed a few homes when just moving things around the house revealed the heavy stains on the surrounding surfaces. That said, I'm no fan of government regulation even though some peoples conduct seems to support the need.

Why is all this so difficult to read and understand. What I SAID was that I SUPPORT a law that says it is illegal to smoke in a car with children present. Why? Because it is my belief that in the confined area of a car, WHERE A CHILD CAN NOT GET AWAY it poses a HUGE danger for a young child's lungs. That is what the ENTIRE opening post was about, and that was a law on CARS. We keep getting pulled off track (I am just as guilty) to talk about houses etc... Am I to infer that YOU think it is just fine for a parent to puff away with all the windows up in a car with 2 or 3 kids? Don't the children have a right to be able to at least have a better opportunity to have a health life? You have no problem with that? Or is it just that you don't like the idea of big brother SAYING you can't smoke in a car with kids? Who is then going to try and keep our children safe? See, this is the problem with society today, compared to many years ago. Today people only give a shit about themselves, and what THEY want. It has become a society of ME ME ME ME. So as long as a smoker can go around and smoke whenever and wherever he pleases, and damn the consequences, then fine, lets let our kids get lung cancer. Let's let our kids grow up with all sorts of other health problems and let THEM worry about the rising medical cost.

The reason I am voicing so much of my opinion on this subject is because it has been proven that second hand smoke is dangerous. And it is the fact that the activity of smoking poses a DIRECT DANGER to others around them that bothers me. Me eating unhealthy food does not cause my child to get cancer. You smoking in a car with children present DIRECTLY causes health problems.

So yes, I DO support a law that says smoking in a car with children is illegal. And if they asked for votes on a law that says you can't smoke in the home with children present, I promise you it will get my vote as well.

I don't care if anyone smokes. You want to light up and burn through 1,2, 3 packs a day, be my guest. MY issue comes when you expose that to children who cannot protect themselves.

You have your opinion that big brother should stay out, I have my opinion that in cases like this big brother needs to step in. Guess what? Neither of us is wrong because we are in America, where we are entitled to our own opinions.

Nice, but nah, gonna keep this name!

Calm down man.... All you needed to do was say yes. :D

You are 100% correct in stating I do not want big brother involved. Pretty sure I was blunt about that.

I do agree that people should not smoke around kids. We just have differing methods in which we would like to accomplish it.

I am glad that we at least agree on this part. I guess the thing that I am trying to figure out is HOW do we protect the kids from this stuff if NOT by big brother stepping in? The general populace certainly hasn't been doing anything. To me, since nobody else IS doing anything, then I see a need for assistance. I've said since the beginning I am not always fan of laws by big brother for a lot of things. But in my opinion, laws are needed, and yes, sometimes they seem stupid on the surface. Face it, this country would have been taken over many many decades ago if we didn't have laws and regulations. Back in the 70s I remember people talking about how stupid it was to have laws against minors having cigarettes in the first place. Hell, I remember buying CANDY cigarettes when I was a kid! Now it is pretty common place, and most of the public accepts and agrees with minors not having cigarettes.

    This.

At least when I did smoke I never smoked around people. Even when I smoked second hand smoke smell would drive me insane.

I got a buddy who decided to light up in my truck without asking. I stopped in the middle of the road, made him get out and walk his ass home. Very inconsiderate of him.
