What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

01-04s hoods are raised a bit too for the higher grill.

Should line up the same or damn close though

I'm sure it would work just the same, I ended up tucking about an 1" over the back lip of the hood to get it where I wanted it.

It was pretty fun to install, could I do it all day, no. Still would beat some desk jobs though... Not that I know what a desk job is hahaha

yep, in my head it seems the most logical right now. Love that 4.7 v8, they sound awesome with an exhaust underneath too. I dont think I'd ever get tired of hearing the v8 grumble going down the trail.
If I do get a tundra, I'll definitely be stuffing links and 1-ton axles under it

The 4.7 really doesnt get that much worse than a Tacoma, especially the 05-06 Tundra with VVT on the 4.7. Our '05 4runner v8 got better gas mileage than my Tacoma did.... and it's still lifted 3" with 35's and armor. around 14-15 city and around 19 on the hwy in it. I've gotten as good as 20.5 on a complete highway tank in that 4runner.

There are some awesome tundra builds out there. I would LT it and 4 link the rear. super race truck! haha the V8s are very nice indeed..optional SC too

Ive always liked them. I would run one for sure. They aren't that cheap around where i live though..haha

 

With my 3.4 5-speed I'm averaging (year round, city/hwy/mix) 21+ mpg.

Putting anti-squeak pads in the Dakars. The full mil wrap requires disassembly to install them.

 

This is a precaution and is proven on others, I know it will wear out eventually.

Can't chamfer to solve this. The contact points are not at the tips, they are between the top and second (mil wrap) areas at the front end of the leafs. Yeah, I'll be shellacking moly between the leaves, too. Brand new, and already rusting ARB does a shitty job of prep and paint. I know rust and squeaks are inevitable on this sort of assembly and friction, but it would nice to start with a clean slate from the factory.

Basically, the area of concern is just behind the front eye to the first retaining clip.

 

Mine isn't a crawlorado. I have less than $15 into it.

Yeah, well you are running a different animal, I mean beast, entirely. We are talking standard OME setup on a DD that does camping trips and up to "medium" difficulty offroad very occasionally, has a cap and bed mat full time plus hitch and camper plus full load of camping gear, but spends most of its time going back and forth with loads from Home Depot or a redwood mill...

jberry, what would be far better is a thin slice of UHMW plastic with industrial adhesive on one side, but that is another project entirely, don't have time for that before I leave for Utah in a couple weeks.
