Morimoto XBled fog lights Group Buy from TRS

No you definitely can do that if you want, just many folks here want it as a separate circuit, which an HD relay harness would offer.

Questions...
1.) These are direct plug and play with NO LED Driver for 2012+ Tacoma?
2.) Also it says 1200 lumens per lamp. What is the factory fog light lumen output per lamp? If these are the same or more... I am deff in!
3.) Please confirm 5K color temp output

If someone from TRS can validate that this wiring kit will work with their LED fogs then I am in. I just don't want these to sit around while I try to cobble up the right connector. Also, if TRS sells something like this wiring kit, then I'm happy to pay for it.

@sdoheny The fogs i believe do not have an external driver from my knowledge. The factory light lumen is based on the h11 bulb that you have. Yes the led is 1200 per side totaling 2400 for both.
I also uploaded a picture of just the fogs. They are almost bright enough to be low beams. And yes they are 5ks, the second picture is of the xbled with osram cbis another pic to demonstrate the bulb color.

Well I did some research on the lumens. These are the results. I know beam pattern and reflector shape plays a huge role so this just gives a general idea. as to how much light is hitting the ground between the options for our trucks. (without all the other factors)

OEM Halogen H11 Sylvania Ultra- 1350 lumens/ 55W / 24.5 lum. per watt
HID FOG Lights- 3200 Lumens/ 35W/ 91 lum. per watt
XB LED Fog- 1200 Lumens/ 9W/ 133 lum. per watt

 

Stock halogen bulbs produce around 900 lumens, actually.

I would add that the first two options have no discernible cutoff. The xB LEDs have a distinct wide but short band of light.

I hear ya. Trust me i absolutely love this product, and with a 5 year warranty and no external power supply... I have been waiting for this so i can replace my DDM HID fogs. I just wish i didnt have to wait for 25 people to join the list to order them for the $120. It is like watching ice melt!

I would assume the wiring harness should work since they are h11 connectors. yeah you would only have to tap it into the fuse or another 12v source.

 

OK, I'm in. The relay will trip off the parking lights with main power directly off the battery. I want to give the LEDs as much power as I can.
