I doubt they would take a broken down Vietnam vet and ship him to Syria but if the battle is over here I sure I could find a gun and be helpful.

Take it easy Charlie and get healed up. Hope the winter is not too cold up in your area.

Had a total of 7phone calls tonight ranging from voting, insurance, volunteering, even a wrong number asking her friend for dr advice when it states who lives here and asking for someone unheard of. Duuuuuuuuiii

:yay::yes: for the new computer Carl...

I was ready to go, but a fellow worker who was NJ National Guard left work at 11 A.M. and was activated for 9 months. Worked at the Staten Island site where they took all the debris to:pray: and searched for anything from the people that were killed that day

    Thank one and all...

Thank you for your service Sue. you were probably put on high alert..

I think we all get these nuisance calls and hate every time I get one. Verizon FIOS has a thing that shows incoming callers on the TV and if I don't recognize the number I don't answer:rolleyes:...if I do answer, sometimes I play with them for wasting my time:D...waste their time and then rip into them and tell them to take my number off their list and don't ever call again because I know where they live:eek:...sometimes it works, sometimes not:eek:

It just seems like the cold bothers me more now as I get older. Brings out the aches and pains in me.

In other news, our refrigerator's freezer stopped working. The repairman will be here today between 1 and 5.

The good news is that I am taking it easy this afternoon. Maybe watch a movie. ;)

Compressor is bad in the fridge. This is a LG rebadged as Kenmore. I am looking for a replacement Whirlpool. The fridge was 6 and a half years old.

    Evening all:
6 1/2 yrs. old :(! The only thing that should wear out is the door hinge, if you open it too often to get a beer out! :D

I have a Whirlpool fridge that I bought when I purchased the house, 28 yrs. and counting, but that doesn't mean that the next one will last that long.
Washer is Maytag, stove is Magic Chef: nothing from Sears.
And then there's the oil furnace--50 yrs. old and counting!

Watch out-there's a solar flare coming. May end up being nothing, or could cause problems.

Using two ice chests to do the job.

Bought a replacement GE last night from HD. My neighbor across the street is some sort of district manager and he was able to get me 10% off.

Lots of good reviews and built here in America. Our old fridge had water through the door. All the new ones have both water and ice through the door. Both of us feel that you sacrifice too much room in the fridge fror ice through the door so this unit does not have that feature.

    Link to product.

Fred: I cannot get used to the treatment either.

Refrigerator efficiency has increased dramatifcally since you bought that fridge. Enough so that you might want to replace it because it will save its price in electricity savings. I had a 1993 fridge I was replacing when we redid the kitchen and I wanted to get something really efficient. Turns out they all are really efficient these days. I knocked ~20 bucks a month off my electric bill with the new fridge. And the local electric utililty PAID ME $75 to come and take the old one away!
[IMG] Our ancient Maytag washer is finally heading downhill. The transmission grunts and grinds every time we run it.
I'll :proposetoast: to that. Too much needless complexity if you ask me. A bit of online research bears it out too; the biggest problem area with fridges is with all the dispenser gadgetry in the doors. I can get my ice from the freezer, thankyouverymuch. Our fridge does have a filtered water dispenser, but it is on the wall of the fridge inside the door. The filter is kind of cute but since I filter the water where it comes into the house I don't feel too bad about ignoring the "time to change the filter" warning.:p
