Hey guys, I want to plan a trip for the 26/27/28 of THIS month. My girl is having her Bachelorette party that weekend.. yes all weekend and I'm just trying to get out of town with my dog and go camping. I would love to have some bro's there to chill, drink, fish, shoot, whatever. Not too worried about what she's doing, just more looking for a weekend where i can finally get away and go man stuff!!

Let me know if you're interested!

The wife and I are staying in Genoa for a couple of nights, just to get away from the 'big city' and family for a bit. We'll be doing the tourist thing since we've never been there before.

I've heard about this 'easy' 4wd trail from the Kingbury grade road, up to Genoa Peak. So I thought we might hit it on the way home, on Friday. I understand there are some great views from up there (over 8,000 feet).

Anyone been on it? Still open?

I go up there all the time. Very easy trail with 4wd. No sliders/lockers needed. You can do it in 2wd if aired down a bit and skinny pedal. The are three lookout points, Genoa being one of them at over 9000 feet.

There are two entrances/exits, one off Kingsbury (North Benjamin which turns into Andria, which turns into Genoa Peak trail) and one on Spooner summit next to the N-DOT station. You can run the whole trail and hit all the lookouts and come out the other side. Plan for 1-2 hours if you stop and enjoy the views.

They close the gates seasonally for the winter. They typically close the gates somewhere between Oct 31 to Nov 15th depending on weather conditions.

Depending on what day/time you go, I may be able to join you if you need a tour guide. The gates are only about 15 minutes from my house. If you don't have a map, it can be confusing as there are several road splits several times for loggers.

Hey, thanx for the response, very appreciated.

It looks like we'll be able to squeeze it in on Friday, on the way back to Folsom. Not sure if we'll go north from Benjamin, or South from hwy 50. I did find a Tahoe area map, that shows the entire road, but not all the side roads. I'll pick up a more detailed map the day before we go.

There's not really a "more" detailed map. I've found stuff just by exploring. Genoa peak is on the map, the other two are off the main trails. You can't really get lost out there tho. The trails either join back up to the main ones or dead end.
I'll be on a plane Friday, so good luck and have fun!
