I've been working on this for the past 3 days.... and can't get it sanded smooth. I decided to use a finish sander on it. Screw hand sanding, and the fullsize sander is just too big. I had to go back and bondo again (3rd time) mostly in little divets that popped up while sanding.

I got the filler primer but I was wondering what type of paint to use. I have autobody paint in black but that shit runs like no ones business and the streaks show up in the gloss. I was think flat black might be better. any suggestions?

I'll post pictures once done... unless I give up and throw this grille threw a window!

thats what i used at first and then i found a "textured" flat black spray. it helped to hide any "imperfections".

Hey man. Just take your time. I was extremely frustrated with the mod as well and it took me 2 days of me sanding, painting, fiberglassing, bondo-ing, re-bondo-ing and epoxying. just take your time man. my 2 cents

Here it is after 3 coats of primer and one coat of texured flat black paint (fresh... 30 seconds after spray)

I'm going to let it dry completely then maybe do another coat... think this one was a little thick

10-15 minute between each coat depending on weather is good...if you want a really smooth finish you may want to wet sand between coats with 2000 grit...that's what I did and it definitely helped get it shiny and smooth after sealing it with a couple coat of clear.

Sanding is the hardest and most time consuming part. You can also use BBQ and stove paint for that heavy duty rough black look.

Its a bitch to do. I think overall it cost about $120 but I had to buy a finish sander for another $50. I don't think I will do this again...

Send it to me, I will paint and clear it that way you can wash it with out blowing the paint off :)
And also for anyone doing this, try to use flex coat bondo filler for plastic, it is more flexable and will help prevent cracking from stress points, bondo can be to hard and no flex
