I was wondering where u were staying when you come. I was going to tell u can always crash at my place if ever needed.
I have an extra tent I never use.

 

My truck is stock, It sounds like I better stay away from hardrock too.

 

U can always jump in with guys. I had mike and Rick ride with me last trip after we got there.

how is the camping there? Some of us want to camp after the meet but I don't want it to be "slots" like at a camp ground. I would prefer to kind of ride down a trail and pitch a tent where ever we choose. How is Matanzas for this?

 

It's $10 a night, you have to call the Forest Service to get a reservation & the gate combo. The sites are O. K., there's an outhouse for a bathroom but no water so take your own. I've driven the whole forest where vehicles are allowed, there's nothing for 4x4's it's all hardpack dirt road's unless I missed something. Some of the road's might be muddy this time of year. If you go make sure you abide by the stupid sss rules, FWC will probally show up, they have every time we have been there so they get the info that somebody is there. We like Moses Creek better you have to get a reservation 7 days ahead for the group camping, there's no charge, you can drive in or hike in. There's water that has made us very little sick with mild diarrhea, nothing severe but that could be different for different people. It would be a good idea to take your own water. There is an outhouse. There's also a North camp site but you have to hike in, I've been there when I could walk that far, it's pretty nice. That site there's no reservation required I don't remember if there's water but I think there was when I was there.

386-329-4404 they will let you drive to the group camping but not around the forest. There would be some nice basic level off roading there. If anybody likes to geocache there are a couple of caches in both places. And don't forget Favor Dykes State Park.

 

FYI, it wasn't stock, lol it had a 2.5 in. Lift and 255/85/16's but I will admit it was pretty close... and I have a new truck as of sunday... count me in for the Oct 4th. Thing tenatively...
