I've always found tire size to be a bit odd on the xtra cabs. Certain days my 285s look too small, other days, they look just right. :notsure:

I look at your pictures there and they look just right.

    Ditto, here.

Even though I've spent many thousands of dollars on mods, none are what I would call 'bling' mods, just stuff that I'm certain will be beneficial on the trail. The only thing non-stock that a casual observer would notice are the sliders.

No 'coolness' factor :p , but less likely to be stolen :D

I build my truck to go not for show. I don't care if it looks pretty. I just want it to work good off road.

Yeah those do look really small

In fact, 35s just aren't going to cut it, and plus everyone has 35s now days. Might as well just go to 37s. I'm postive they'll fit with only minor modifcation!

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
Hey thanks Lauren! I'll shoot it with some bike chain lube when I get home tonight and see if that helps. It's in the toolbox 3 feet from the seat post. :)

This is my motivation as well. Accept I want mine to handle okay on pavement and moderate off road. I do not care about looks.

I couldn't find that skid on their site? Also what are peoples thoughts on just plating the existing skid?

Also question to all those running wheel spacers... I am picking up some spider trax 1.25" from a local member. I have not replaced the LBJ's on the truck yet, (stock height, 180k on the ODO, not sure if the PO did it under the recall or not) but I plan on doing it soon since I have seen so many failures recently.

The question I have is, will adding wheel spacers increase the risk of LBJ failure if the LBJ is still in good working condition, but clearly aged?

    ...too much shit to list.
Wheel spacers or more offset wheels add leverage.
Leverage can increase stress on all suspension components.

Wheel spacers put more stress on the LBJ, UBJ, wheel bearings, etc. You are adding more stress via leverage. Whether or not the LBJ can handle it is the question you will have to answer. ;)

On the truck, I'm aware they squish with weight but I've measured other peoples on too (diff brands) and they were more than 31 haha

Hope it fixes it for you!

So I had a couple extra gallons of a marine grade surface tolerant epoxy primer. If its good enough for high impact areas on the deck of a ship it was worth a little experiment on the skids.

High hopes for this paint come the salty NE winters.

I've measured them off before and they weren't 33s either...

Figured you were going to say that ;) moral of the story is they've never been true 33 lol
